“Short August break”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2012

Just realised I hadnt reveiwed my last visit to this hotel back in August. Couldnt get away for a proper holiday this Summer as I was a "Gamesmaker" at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff. How to make it up to the other half? 3 nights at the Noel Arms might do it!
Great little hotel in a lovely part of the country. Had a great room overlooking the car park at the rear. Good welcome and they took the trouble to show us to our room. The little coffee shop was as good this time as it was last time..What a choice of cakes!
Decided to eat in the bar every night as the we liked the menu and it was good value.(and the Olympics were on the TV) Food was fine and service at the bar was much better than average.
Cant fault any of the staff at this hotel. They are invariably cheerful and helpful. My wife left her handbag on the table in the bar when we went to our room. She realised this as soon as we put our things on the bed. There was a knock on the door and there was the barman with the handbag( so I guess it helps to charge drinks/food to the room).
Its my intention to revisit for a short break in 2013.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear to avoid traffic noise.

What a treat

After our initial arrival we had coffee and cake both delicious

Our evening meal was very well presented but more than that very delicious
And yes breakfast was also lovely a choice of continental and OR both full English

The staff were very attentive but not intrusive
They were friendly and professional and created a relaxed atmosphere
Really liiked the room as well
Well done to all you made our stay very enjoyable

Very much looking forward to returning in March

Booked as a Christmas Present to recharge after family christmas, lovely hotel but missed having a cosy lounge for guests to relax with a open fire. Staff were brilliant from the moment we walked in to reception, Receptionist was friendly, welcoming and wanted so much to tell us about the facilities the hotel had to offer, and took so much proudness in telling us and about the facilities in the village, a great ambassdor for the hotel. Staff in bar and at breakfast again friendly, helpful and welcoming.
Rooms were ok, but expected something a little more special for the price I paid on laterooms, from reading reviews maybe better value if you get a package deal.
LFood was excellent during our stay.

My sister tipped me off after a stay in the summer and after our initial plans had to change because if illness, we managed to get here for a couple of days at the start of December. It struck me as a lovely, relaxed, well maintained hotel. Nothing too flashy (maybe that we left to the sister hotel across the road) but the food, both the full menu and the reduced menu we had on our first night as part of the autumn deal, were interesting enough, despite not being too extensive. So long as people stop giving the hotel five star reviews, we hope to start visiting on a more regular basis to explore the area.

As part of our package, we had a free session at the Spa in the sister hotel, which was excellent - I would even say that, had a free session not been on offer next time we visit, I would be happy to pay for it.

Room Tip: My only slight reservation is our room, which was directly off the courtyard, meaning that, with the...

We stayed here for 2 nights the weekend before Christmas and could not have had a nicer stay.
From the moment we entered until we left we felt welcome and looked after. The staff couldn't have been friendlier and more helpful.
Our room was a good size, lovely and clean and felt homely.
Tea and coffee making facilities although would have enjoyed some other options like green/ fruit tea as I don't drink normal tea.
We stayed in room 20 which was right at the back of the hotel overlooking the car park. Even though we were staying at the weekend we found the room lovely and quiet. We slept so soundly and enjoyed the peace and quiet during the day also.
We ate at the restaurant on the Friday night and chose to have two of the curry dishes as we had read that the chef has won an award for his curries. We were not disappointed, beautiful lamb and chicken dishes, tasty starters also.
The bar and dining areas are cosy and comfortable. Although the bar was busy on both evenings we were able to find somewhere to sit. Good selection of drinks including some local ales.
The breakfast was great. Good choice of continental food to help yourself to along with tea, coffee and juices.
Cooked breakfasts available included in the price from the menu. My boyfriend chose the breakfast speciality on the second day which was a selection of indian things. He loved it and said he would definitely have it again! I enjoyed wild mushrooms on toast which I would also recommend.
We ate at the eight bells inn on the second night which we would also recommend.
The badger hall tea rooms a couple of doors down from the hotel serves amazing herb and cheese scones! The cakes looked lovely in the hotel we just didn't have time to sample!
If you want a good walk and amazing views then climb Cleeve Hill. At the top you can see views to Wales, Worcestershire, and Gloucestershire.

Room Tip: Room 20 is at the back. Nice and quiet.

Thank you for such a wonderful review, it seems we got just about everything right apart from the tea selection so we will look at enhancing this, but next time if the tea you need is not there do let us know and we will arrange it for you, we are all delighted you had such a wonderful time we look forward to welcoming you back again very soon, please don’t forget that the best possible price is always to be had by booking with us direct. You don’t mention the spa at our sister hotel the Cotswold House (for a small supplement Noel Arms guests can use the spa) next time why not bring your costumes and have a relax by the hydro pool !

We stayed for just one night mid week and had an excellent time. We had a deal through Groupon which included afternoon tea, use of the spa, breakfast and 10% discount in the restaurant. All staff were very friendly and couldn't help us enough. The room we stayed in (room 8) was a decent size with a nice big shower and bath. The spa facilities were quite basic but as they were inclusive in the price, it was more of an added extra which was nice and relaxing. The food was very good (we had our evening meal there as well as breakfast), as was the service.
All in all I would thoroughly recommend this place for a relaxing break.

Stayed here just 1 night and what a pleasure it was. From the minute we booked in there were smiles all around. We were shown to our room which was ensuite. The ensuite was a shower which was great for us. The room had tea and coffee making facilities, there was plenty to be had. Husband had just got out of shower when there was a power cut. The whole village had gone dark. Staff were al cheerful and assued us that all would be well soon and it was. We went down to dinner and lots of choices, we both opted for the lamb, very glad we did. It was beautifully cooked and very tender. I had the ice cream for dessert and husband had the cheese board, which was all local cheese. The meal and service could not be faulted. It was lovely.
The breakfast was substantial with full English or Continental or both if wished.
All things considered the whole stay was excellent and would recommend to anybody.

Room Tip: Ask for a room other than 13 or 14 as they were overlooking an area where deliveries are made so it...
