Description: The Seagrave Arms is a charming country pub with rooms serving award-winning British cuisine in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. With 2 Rosettes, the restaurant serves seasonal British cuisine. The menu is made with sustainable local produce including fruits and vegetables from nearby farms, Cotswold beef, Gloucester Old Spot pork and plenty of game from local shoots. Whether you want to enjoy a pint of real ale in the bar near the roaring-log fire or dine on classic dishes in the candlelit and intimate restaurant, Hannah, Newstead and Mally (The Cat) look forward to welcoming you.

“Disappointing meal”
Reviewed April 14, 2014

Visited this restaurant for a second time as hoped the new owners had improved matters. We found the very limited menu disappointing ( 4 starters and 4 mains - 2 of which were fish!!) and my husband had to send his main of woodpigeon back as it was so tough that he couldn't cut it. When we asked for the bill, they had deducted the cost of all our food, which was very generous, but it would have been better if somebody from management had come and apologised. Sadly, I don't think we will return.

“Recommended and not disappointed”
Reviewed April 6, 2014

Small menu, but good range. Food was beautifully presented. Tasted as good as it looked. Staff friendly and helpful. Good range of drinks, especially the lager (Curious). lovely meal for a special occasion.

“Cold and Unwelcoming”
Reviewed March 28, 2014

From outside this venue looked welcoming. However our opinion was changed upon entering. The bar and restaurant were extremely cold, to such an extent that we asked to have the fire lit and sat with our jackets wrapped around us.
The menu itself was very disappointing, with a choice of 4 starters, 4 mains and 3 puddings. No vegetarian choice was available. Having chosen our mains we were not given any option over how the beef would be cooked and was not told that the meals were not served with any potatoes or veg; nothing was mentioned on the menu. We then ordered potatoes to be told our only option was new.
When the meals arrived the beek was in starter-sized portions - very disappointing considering the price of £19. Although well cooked, overall the food was small and very overpriced.
The deserts followed the same path as the mains; small and expensive. The cheese platter had a good variety of local cheeses, although no one seemed to know what they were.
Such a shame but given that the food was not great and extremely overpriced and the venue cold, we and our friends will certainly not be returning. We left around 10.15pm and got the impression the staff were waiting for us to leave.
Having visited the Cotwolds a couple of times over the past year, there are fantastic restaurants and pubs where you'll be warm and get great food, unfortunately this isn't one of them.

“An unexected surprise”
Reviewed March 28, 2014

This is a local gastro-pub we haven't used enough, so we were unaware of the recent change in chef when we dropped in for lunch. You couldn't fault it. If you like unostentatiously skilled cooking using the best ingredients in a subtle and crafty (in the best sense) this is very hard to beat. And astonishing, considering this is a pub, not an esteemed metropolitan restaurant. Watercress soup was sublime, fish was perfectly cooked and imaginatively presented, with fine desserts. If your preference is for huge helpings, or if you elect to salt your meal before tasting it, this might not be for you, but we left delighted with an exceptional meal.

“Excellent Sunday lunch”
Reviewed March 23, 2014

Probably one of the best Sunday lunches we've had in a pub! Lovely place, nice decor and lots of different little rooms so it all feels quite cosy. Excellent and friendly service. Short menu with a few added specials on the board - definitely prefer this as I do believe it's better to do a few dishes and do them really well (which they do), rather than have a wide selection of average food.

We had scallops and salmon mousse for starters, beef and pork roasts, and then both had the apple crumble for pudding.

All delicious, and will definitely go back if we're in the area again.
