Description: A stylish, contemporary Indian Restaurant serving authentic Indian & Bengali cuisine. Great service with friendly, yet attentive staff. Expertly cooked, tasty food from Abdul and his brigade of chefs. The menu offers a wide choice and the pricing represents extremely good value for money. Booking is recommended as space is limited and the Restaurant is busy on many evenings, especially weekends and on the two 'Feast Nights', Thursday & Sunday. Takeaway service includes Collection, which commands a 10% reduction, and a Delivery service to Edlington and many other local areas including Balby, Warmsworth, Conisbrough, Sprotbrough, Maltby and Wadworth.

“Worth an 88 mile round trip!!!”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

Following the closure of our favourite Indian restaurant my husband and I began the quest to find a new one. After numerous disappointments and average meals in local (north Lincs) and not so local eateries we found Nur - an 88 mile round trip. We have visited five times in the last four months and have given up our search. The food is excellent; tasty, hot, freshly cooked and the portions are extremely generous. I always come home with enough for lunch on the following day. The staff greet you with a smile and are polite and attentive without being obsequious. We have just been for one of the feast evenings - poppadums with pickles, starters of meat samosas and garlic mushrooms, mains of fish masala and chicken jaflongi with rice and a brilliant naan all for £19.00. Worth every penny of the diesel and every minute of the journey.

“The best indian ever ever ever”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

we first went here on xmas eve 5 years ago and have never been to another indian in the town since. The place was often empty, however 'Nur' made you feel so welcome, you felt like a personal guest. They will cater to any unusual requests, there is a customer who has a very hot chicken korma. They will discuss the menu for you and make recommendations according to your taste level.
The last few times I have been, I've had to wait about 10 mins for a table so it looks like a phone call in advance is worth doing.
This restaurant deliberately has no alcohol license so its bring your own and pay cash. 3 cashpoints locally. Coop next door and One Stop opposite if you need more of anything.
Give it a go I guarantee you'll go back. Prices are very reasonable too, especially feast night where you get stuffed and part with less than a tenner per person.
Edlington looks a bit shady with all the shutters on the shops but your car will be fine in the coop.

“Good Starter”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

Take away on a Sunday evening. Decided on Nur after reading the reviews.
Starters were very good. Mixed Kebab and onion bhajis. Flavourful, just the right amount of spice and plenty of it too.
When it comes to the mains, I'm afraid we were less then pleased. Chicken Balti was bland in spice and salty.
I had the Bhindi Chicken. Again, this was very bland in taste and struggled to find any spice to it at all. Unusually, the sauce was rather thick, as if flour had been added to it and had a granular texture. Only a couple of mouthfuls was consumed before I gave it to the bin. I was very disappointed.
Maybe the regular Chef had a day off?

“Find of the month”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

Visited this place after reading the reviews.

Location ~ In Edlington, right next door to Co-op. Parking is in Co-op car park just away from restaurant. Was slightly concerned about car but it was fine.

Restaurant ~ Probably has 10 tables in all and able to sit 30? people. Looks more of a cafe than restaurant and almost an afterthought to a take away. Basic but clean. However, there was a very good atmosphere with background music etc. By time we were leaving at 8, the place was full.

Staff ~ First time we had visited and they went out of their way to be friendly. Noticed they were this way with everyone. Service was quite slow but we weren't in a hurry so didn't mind.

Menu ~ Extensive and not expensive. On prices, we had popadums, pickle tray, 2 starters, 2 mains, 1 rice, huge nan bread and1 soft drink all for £27. Happy days.

Food ~ Was absolutely great. Served hot, big portions and very flavoursome.

Drinks ~ They do not serve alcohol so you need to go next door to Co-op. Soft drinks are available.

Whilst we were there, I estimate the phone must have rung 20 times for take away orders. These did seem to take priority.

You need to be aware that they also do not have a card machine so its cash only.

Nice touch was that I mentioned to owner about his high rating on Tripadvisor and he was totally unaware so therefore was not fishing for compliments.

Would definitely go back at this price and quality. Highly recommended.
