The official home for the Yorkshire Light Infantry exhibit, now a permanent feature in a specially built part of the museum. Doncaster museum also offers excellent coverage of local history and plans numerous events and exhibitions to coincide with school holidays. You could easily pass the afternoon away here and keep the kids entertained.
The museum also hosts an art exhibition every year for local artists; the quality of the art rising each year. Parking is ample, there are a number of local buses that pass close by, the train station is a ere fifteen minute walk, a short bus ride or taxi ride away.
Close to the centre of town a visit to the museum could be combined with a visit to the town's famous and award-winning markets, the re-furbished shopping centre or even the Doncaster Dome or Air Museum.
It may not be a place to re-visit too often but is definitely worth the visit at least once a year to see any new exhibitions.
Ideal for families, groups, personal visits. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
There is a large service lift [operated by a staff member] for the disabled to use. Which I have been grateful for a number of times.
