“Find the paintings”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

My husband and I went to see an exhibition of Ashley Jackson paintings at Cusworth Hall. While the paintings themselves were interesting, they took some finding, being tucked away at times in obscure locations. They were not well displayed with the lighting shining on the art work ,making it difficult to see, or the opposite effect, where the lighting was so poor it was not possible to see any detail at all. A real disappointment. The tea room was one consolation with good tea and cakes in a quirky old building. The grounds outside are delightful and give a fine panoramic view of Doncaster in the distance. Not impressed by the staff who were neither friendly, communicative nor informative.

“Beautiful Hall & Parkland”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

Another local secret ! This beautiful hall is home to some fantastic exhibits of local pieces of by -gone days ranging from victorian clothing, childrens toys, up to more up to date mobile phones (well 1980's brick sized ones) The museum is Free but donations in the box are gratefully appreciated. Spectacular views can be seen from the house of the lake and parklands. A lovely coffee shop where you can even get a beer. Plenty of School holiday activities going off in July & August. A great local place to visit.

Attended a wedding here and the grounds and the Marquee were beautiful. Great surroundings and a beautifully finished marquee and the catering was excellent.

“Beautiful grounds, an interesting house, friendly staff and it's free!”
Reviewed June 16, 2013 via mobile

I have been to Cusworth Hall before but went back today and it was absolutely lovely. Amazingly it is now free - we did the tour of the house which is stunning and very interesting from a historical viewpoint; there was lots on display ranging from rare pieces to household items which added that personal nostalgic touch. Information was planty so you really can take your time. We ate in the tea room where the food was good and quite cheap. There is also the grounds which are well kept and colourful. You could spend almost the full day here so it is well worth a visit. You can take picnics and balls etc for children but be sure to take a few pounds for the car park.
