We were fortunate that when we arrived, the cafe was open and therefore there was someone to show us to our room, otherwise you collect your keys from the conservatory at the back of the Guest House, and find your own way to your room. The bedroom was clean, and had been recently decorated, but the furniture was eclectic, obviously second hand, and not in very good condition. Antiseptic hand wash was provided in place of soap, and we didn't dare use the shower in case the door fell off, into the shower. The room looked onto the main road, and was very noisy. At breakfast, the milk was in the 'fridge, you made your own toast, and put out your cutlery etc., but breakfast was cooked for you. Apart from breakfast, the place appeared to be deserted, if you needed to contact a member of staff, there was a telephone number to use. Likewise if a fire broke out, you had to go to the nearest telephone box and telephone the fire brigade. I appreciated that this is a bed and breakfast establishment and not an hotel, but it did not achieve the basic standards which I expected when I made the reservation for myself and my husband. Needless to say, I will not be staying here again.
