I visited the station hotel with some friends as we saw it on Wowcher and decided to stay a night for a good laugh. The voucher we bought was for 2 nights, however we could only stay for one.

The hotel itself is nice, big rooms and good atmosphere, however staff were not very helpful and was not welcoming. The receptionist was very moody and sharp, we felt very unwelcomed.
We booked 2 rooms, however all stayed in one as it had enough beds and was very large. It was a great night, mainly due to the company, and the beds were fairly comfortable. The room was very noisy due to a wedding party on the ground floor, and the walls were very thin.

In the morning, we went down to breakfast, which was nice, however staff again were very rushed and rude. When asking for more orange juice, the woman snapped at me and was very moody.

I would probably stop at the hotel again, but not stay for breakfast however it was good food, the staff need to think about there customer service!

Six of us stayed here as we had stayed the previous year and had a great time!!
We attend the Halloween night at the Black Country Museum every year and so we have enjoyed the station in the past as all the staff where friendly and the hotel itself ( or so i thought) really made the extra effort at Halloween and because of these reasons i had SOLD this to friends as the bar area was always a great place to return to with all staff dress up and scary things being advertised.
NOT THIS YEAR!!!!
To start off the price we we told for a family room was incorrect when we paid, i was told breakfast was included over the phone!!!.........when i questioned Reception i was told that it was not included (but worth having)..........................em i think i should be asked then before you put the charge through on my card!!!! not happy!!!
For the location and the Stations history they should MAKE MORE EFFORT!!!
Plus our family room was smaller then the double room we also had and the double rooms smell was not pleasant at all.
More dissapointed then anything else as last year was great!!!
Even though in the same area the Newer hotels with better facilities also offering a better price, we would have always chosen The Station.
It a shame and a waste of a great night!!

Went to stay at this hotel by purchasing a "wowcher" haunted hotel offer....
Arrived and we were met by a friendly young chap on he desk, the welcome was warm and friendly.. We went to our room and in keeping with the age of he hotel I felt the room was lovely. As this hotel is on most haunted I read reviews etc...
The hotel is large and very interesting.. Food is nice and reasonably priced.. We walked past the room 214 that was mentioned on the program and the door was open, we were told we could go in which we did....and didn't feel anything in there.. However we felt the charm of the hotel didn't need to spooky advertising ( however nothing at the hotel advertised it as a spooky reputation)
The staff were lovely and on the Sunday morning we had breakfast the girls in the dining room were busy and at times were treated not very nicely by other residents. One girl worked the bar and restaurant and managed to smile through it..
Only spooky experience was the cleaner ho walked past our door and gave me a fright (ha ha) she was lovely ...
Only downside was the noise of the traffic which kept me up all night as our room was on the road side... However ear plugs sorted this the next night....
We enjoyed our stay to be honest and found the hotel charming considering its age...and we would stay there again
Well done to all the staff I say

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from main road.. Or 214/217 if you like spooky things

We had to stay at this hotel for a family wedding so it was a shame that it was a miserable experience on an otherwise happy occasion. Although the rooms were large, they were tatty and tired. Taking a shower was an ordeal with poor water pressure, tiny towels and a cold bathroom. Others of our party paid the same for B&B as we had been quoted for room only, and when we asked at reception about this, were given a load of unbelievable reasons for the difference. Then the bill was wrong at the end. Not a happy experience.

Obviously seen better days but now out of date and tired. Rooms are big but soulless and the sash windows don't stay open. Like the Marie Celeste on Saturday lunchtime. Had to ask for the bar to be opened and for a sandwich to be made. We were part of a larger party and there was no consistency with room prices. On check out the bill was wrong and I overheard others saying the same thing. The management seem to have no idea of what rates have been offered when the booking is made.

We are unlikely to need to visit Dudley again but if we did we would find somewhere else to stay.

Malcolm

my frinds and I revisited the Station hotel , on 28th sept, We had arranged to have a meal and visit to visit a medium, the cost was only £15, so we decided to stay the night in the infamous room 214. On arrival we could see a new carpet had been fitted in reception and on the stairs, which looked and felt lovely, there are plans to refurbish the dinning room and bar, all to enhance the hotel's character. The staircase is marvelous, and would make a fab background for wedding or special occasions photographs. well the meal was very nice (a carvery). the (medium) well was entertaining. Our room was clean , as were the bed sheets. we had a great stay again, the night porter, chatted to us about the hotel , he was very sociable and polite. We did hear wierd things in room 214 , no sightings. so it's room 217 next, great stay, lovely hotel. remember thats the difference, it's a hotel not a lodge, we will be returning next year.

Room Tip: ask for a room away from the main road as traffic starts early. If you want to hear spooky goings o...

I have booked an executive room for 1 night as a birthday present for my boyfriend and on arrival we were really surprised at how big and impressive the building is, it looks lovely from the outside.
We walked in to check in and the interior was rather grandiose, with a fantastic deep carpet and an impressive massive staircase, spiral type.
We were given room 111 and the person at reception indicated me that we had the breakfast included even though I paid and chose room only on their website.
I thought it was a lovely gesture as the sunday was my boyfriend actual birthday day, so a nice breakfast after a few drinks the night before is always welcome :)

The room was beautiful and spotless, very high ceiling, drapes, chandelier, beautiful bed, really comfy as well.
We had a jacuzzi bath in the bathroom which we used (had to call the duty manager at 11.30 pm to help us turn it on and he was happy to help) was lush.

The hotel is walking distance to a industrial park with cinema, nandos, frankie and bennies, a mexican restaurant, mac donalds, bar etc..
So very practical, also close to a big tesco.

We tried to stay awake for as long as possible but fell asleep as the bed was so comfy and we woke up the day after having not been disturbed by any ghosts .

So all in all we had a lovely time for a very good price but a little disappointed we did not see or hear anything spooky

Room Tip: the executive room is really big and has a jacuzzi bath and even though it was on the road side it w...
