Owner description: See the network of underground canal routes that helped form the industrial Black Country and marvel at the fantastic Limestone Caverns. Enjoy a canalside walk or relaxing boat trip, and admire the local history. See if you can spot any of the limestone fossils remaining from when the area was below sea, and explore the Dudley Tunnel - don't be startled by the bats!

“Santa visit”
Reviewed December 15, 2012

Visited today for the Santa experience with a very excited 8 yr old. Mostly fine but very disappointed with the Santa element. At some point Santa comes onto the barge, talks to the kids and gives them a gift. Unfortunately my little boy was almost last. He was asked his age, given a gift, had the photograph taken and that was it, no 'what is your name?, 'what would you like for Christmas?' Nothing just moved on because the barge had to move, how to crush a little boys Christmas! I am very angry at this! It just takes a bit of planning!!! Disgraceful!

“Something different”
Reviewed November 1, 2012

I've visited this attraction twice once with 2 friends and more recently with my husband. Before you are allowed onto the boat you have to pick your hard hat to wear on the journey. Our boatman/guide was very informative and funny as he told us anecdotes about workings of the canals in the past

As you go around the driver asks for 2 volunteers to do the "legging" this is where you lie on your back and walk your feet along the wall of the canal to propel the boat along

The trip takes under an hour and was well worth it, afterwards (if you have time) you can then go to the museum which has an extra charge to see how people lived in the "olden days"

“Dudley Canal Trust Trip”
Reviewed October 30, 2012

Visited this with 2 teenage daughters. Traversing the tunnels into the mines was a fascinating experience, made even better by the "driver" who was informative, very funny and clearly enjoyed his job.

Don't forget to wear your hard hat and be prepared to do a bit of legging if asked!!! Takes about 45 minutes for the trip and is worth the money.

“Discover what lies beneath”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

We had moored our boat on the visitor moorings at the back of the BCM. Being boaters the thought of a tunnel is intriguing as they are all so very different. The Dudley Canal Tunnels are unique to say the least. The very fact that these vast tunnels and huge caverns are man made make them even more awe inspiring. Definitely the best attractions we have been to for a long time and we've seen a good many tunnels during our years on the cut. Can't wait for our Grandson to be old enough to visit Santa. We've seen where he hides his sleigh. He's getting ready so be good folks. Thanks to Mark for an excellent guided tour. Who knows maybe we will be back to use the Caverns for a family wedding.
