“A great day out in a much-improved Zoo.”

After a near 20 year gap since my last visit to Dudley Zoo it would be safe to say we some reservations about spending an afternoon here with our 7 year-old Nephew but I was pleasantly surprised by what we found. If you forget the tired looking entrance(which is about to updated) what awaits you is a lovely, well kept Zoo and a terrific Castle. We spent 4 fun-filled hours there and the Nephew had a great time. Highlights were the Farm and the amazing walk-through monkey bit.

So if you fancy a good, old-fashioned day at the Zoo but with a nice modern twist you'll not be disappointed by Dudley Zoo. A Zoo that's most definitely on the comeback trail.

Lovely day out at this zoo that has everything. Lots of animals all looked very happy and in good enclosures very interesting facts and information to read. The castle was very interesting with re-enactments taking place. Loved the chair lift and train, food and drink very reasonable.

My friend and I visited the zoo for my 25th birthday and had a fantastic day; it is the perfect place for those that are big kids at heart! Having visited the zoo a few years ago we noticed an improvement in the zoo overall. It is clear they are trying hard to improve the facilities and appearance, although there is still a lot to do.
There is a good range of animals to see and the enclosures are perfect to get a good view, even on a busy day in the summer holidays! There is a small farm where you can feed the animals and various exhibits that you can walk through to get closer to the animals including the lemur wood, monkey tails and wallaby walk-through. There is a good programme of talks and feeding times to keep you busy throughout the day. We spent some time exploring the castle, which offers an interesting bit of local history. There are also some play areas and a small fair if you have children with you. There are various cafes dotted around the zoo or plenty of places to stop for a picnic.
The zoo is very hilly and looked hard work for those with pushchairs, and I imagine would cause problems for those with walking difficulties. The zoo have re-opened the chair lift and provided a train to help combat this, however these do not reach all areas.
Overall we had a brilliant day and are planning another visit soon with my friend’s nephew. A bargain day out for the £13.50 admission!

Having not been to the zoo for two years, we were pleased to find a great improvement. We found the site and animal enclosures were vastly improved, particularly the lemur walk which unlike some reviews was fantastic with the lemurs sitting no more than a foot away and very friendly! You can see all the ongoing work the zoo is doing and what it plans to do next. The only downside was the reptile house which had very small windows and empty areas, making it very difficult to view when busy.

Overall great experience.

I went there with a friend and we had a lovely time. I had heard mixed reviews in comparison with other zoos but we thought we would give this a go. The one negative would be the hilly walks so it would not suit anyone with any form of physical disability. However the surroundings were pleasant and there were ample picnic tables near the enclosures. We got a voucher deal two adults for 20 pounds which made it worthwhile. The staff were helpful.the lions and tigers were the highlight for us because we are cat fans! Overall it was a lovely day out. We spent 4 and a half hours there and we wanted longer so definitely spend the day and see the animals throughout the day :)
