“Oops! What a silly billy.”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

Once we had realised the Sun Hotel is not the Sun Cafe Retaurant, which is why we couldn't find our table, we were very pleasantly surprised, right down to the young lady, positioned over the urinals but averting her eyes. The service was very good, as was the Lancashire potato cake and the belly pork. There were eight of us, we shared six bottles of wine, we all had a starter, we all had a main course and there were a couple of rounds of cheese thrown in there somewhere as well and all for £45.00 per head, including tip. Someone said to me the Sun Cafe was the only place to eat in Lancaster. Being a visitor, I couldn't say whether it is or it isn't but it has got to be up there, with the best.

“Great meal”
Reviewed November 3, 2012

Lovely meal, we had to move our table away from near the door as it was a little draughty. The food was very good. The service was a little hit nad miss one of the girls was very good one was a little ditzy. She gave some starters and some veg to the wrong table. Overall though it was very good.

“Couldn't fault the food or service”
Reviewed October 21, 2012 via mobile

Staying at the Penny Bridge hotel with my running group. A power cut on Saturday night meant they could no longer provide dinner for 14. The hotel were very good and phoned around to find who could step in, not easy on a Saturday night. Sun Cafe were able to fit us in at 8:30.

Service was very good and to get us started free gespachio. Starters and mains all excellent and very artistic presentation on a modern white dinner service. Vegetable portions generous and delicious, done just right. House wine was good if a little expensive for house wine at £16.60.

Would definitely recommend. About £38 per head including 1/2 bottle of wine and tip. Only 4 of us managed a pud!

“Impromptu lunch”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

My wife intended to buy me lunch "on the hoof" at the outdoor market but I said I'd rather go somewhere where we could sit down and relax. We ended up in the Sun Cafe purely by chance as we were passing through Sun Street. The staff were very polite and the meal, we ended up having a main course each with drinks, was well presented and very tasty. My wife had a salad selection which even for a someone not much into salads like myself looked very tempting. As a lunch venue I can certainly recommend the Sun Cafe if you are in the city and need a place to stop off and refuel yourself midday.

Lovely food, good service. Bit of a wait between courses, but were given lots of fresh bread to keep us going.
