The last afternoon of a highly significant five day visit to Lancaster. We went to Williamson Park, and were captivated. Absolutely unspoiled, but carefully tended, and a must for anyone nostalgic for the not-so-distant past. The Ashton Memorial is stunning, the Butterfly House is a delight and the Aviary a pleasure. I assume it's municipally run - all concerned should feel very proud of themselves.

Lovely area to chill, fabulous views of Morecambe bay. Plenty for families to enjoy. Free play area for kids to run around. Nice little cafe. Good to be able to drive right up, being disabled I would struggle to walk up.

We had a lovely afternoon in the park. There is plenty to do. We explored the Ashton Memorial with great views across Lancaster and further. Went on the woodland walks, had a coffee in the cafe and an ice cream sitting on the grass.

Williamson Park is a lovely park to take a stroll and the views across Morecambe Bay are second to none. The Lake District in the distance is stunning.

Lovely park if a little neglected, lots of woodland paths, beautiful and stunning memorial at the centre of the park. The birdhouse was a nice surprise. Quite hilly, we didn't realise that you could drive to the top, would do that next time. We actually got lost trying to find our way back to the carpark, some of the paths are quite similar and deceiving. Pavilion cafe quite nice, they actually served pancakes on Shrove Tuesday which was a nice touch. Would definately visit again.
