This hotel is in an excellent location for the station and all local places of interest and shopping..Our room wasnt ready to use over some mix up but this was quickly sorted whilst we were given complimentary drinks in the bar. we were given room 32 which was beautiful with large airy velux windows. A great nights sleep was followed by a superb breakfast.I would definitley reccommend this hotel and would stay here again .The only downside to this hotel is that there is no lift so not suitable for disabled.

Room Tip: room 32 attic room with large velux windows to open wide

We stayed here for 5 nights as there was a conference at the local University. The room we stayed in was well laid out, a large King sized bed, with a good sized ensuite and hanging space. The problem was there was no air circulation, the windows did not open and the room became hot and stuffy by the morning due to the lack of fresh air circulation.

The meals were average pub fare, and we only ate there on one night due to me vomiting at 4am, and having worked in the medical field for 30+ years knew that it coincided with the meal I had there that evening at The Sun being the cause.

There was also loud noise from the pub patrons most nights until closing time, which detracted from having a good sleep.

I cannot recommend it ....

I used to visit this pub as a youngster many years ago. Its been transformed by the owners into a quality B&B with a lovely menu of food, great beer and a good atmosphere. Its location is great for visiting Lancaster. the only downer (no parking) but if you know the area you can manage to park fairly close by without too much trouble. SafePark is great but pretty expensive for a long weekend. The staff are really friendly and the room quirky with a sloping floor but really comfortable bed. You might need a map to get to your room but thats not a problem. Bed was really comfortable, and the breakfast was awesome - this is what you came for!!. On the day we were out early they set up a breakfast basket outside our room at 5.30am. Milk in an ice bucket, and loads of fruit. Great service.

Stayed at the Sun Hotel while having a bathroom fitted and although could not have the same room for the 2 weeks due to other peoples reservations this did not prove to be a problem. The staff were great and very helpful, the 3 rooms my wife and I stayed in were very well decorated and comfortable. Breakfast's and dinners were of a high quality and could not be faulted. I would recommend The Sun Hotel to anyone wanting just a drink, meal or accommodation. If you decide to eat at The Sun try the cheese board fantastic value for money.

The Sun Hotel was always a place we liked to go on a Friday after work to unwind. With an extensive range of drinks to suit all tastes and a relaxed environment to do it in made it an easy choice. So now when we go back to see family and friends The Sun Hotel is always our first choice in accommodation.

All of the rooms we have stayed in have been clean and comfortable, with tea and coffee making facilities. There is also a water filter in the stairwell where you can help yourself to a jug and take to your room.
Obviously this is an old building on a busy(ish) street so there is some noise, not from the pub but from the street below, so I'd recommend earplugs if you're a light sleeper. There's also no lift but the staff are always happy to help with bags and it really is a warren of a place upstairs they just don't build them like this anymore :)

The breakfast is full on, locally sourced, cooked well and to order. Looking forward to our next stay

We have just returned from a two night stay at the Sun Inn, where we enjoyed a comfortable room, great food (especially the locally sourced breakfast) and good service from staff who were always friendly and willing to help.
Our stay was made all the better by little "extras" including ground coffee and a cafetierre in the room and chocolates on the pillow. The only negative either of us identified was the slightly tired bathroom.
its location is a short walk from the Railway Station and even closer to the castle. It is an ideal base for exploring Lancaster and the surrounds.

My wife and I made reservations here based on a friends recommendation.. We were very pleased. It was a small quaint hotel. Room was well decorated and very comfortable. The check-jn desk was around behind the bar in a small nook. He was very pleasant and as we had arrived very early, he took our luggage and even brought it to our room once it was ready, awaiting our return. The room includes breakfast, and WOW! That was totally amazing. There was too much food. There is a cold buffet, cereals, fresh fruit cocktail, breads, yogurts teas and coffees, and juice. Then you get to choose from 5 items out of about 15 on their hot selection menu.... Lots of meats, eggs, potatoes, grilled tomatoes... It was all delicious. My only complaint was that there were 3 radiators in the room for heat, (turned off as it was not even cool). There was no AC, which I understand, but there was no way to get fresh air. The one window that was even possible to be open in our room was screwed shut. The first afternoon the room got a little stuffy, but the rest of our two day stay it was fine. There was even a towel radiator in the bathroom, which we tried to turn off as we really wanted no additional heat sources for the room, but that caused a leak. We ended up just keeping the bathroom door shut, when created a warm/toasty bathroom. Overall it was a very pleasant experience. We ate elsewhere with friends for dinner so I have no comments on the restaurant.
