We had an overnight stay on the 18th August. Ahead of a day trip to Morecambe. Myself, my friend and my 2 sons. A good location as just off the motorway, and close enough to walk into Lancaster along the cycle path. Our room was clean and comfortable, and we loved the pool and spa facilities. The children loved being able to go into the Jacuzzi and sauna, as they are not usually allowed to use these due to their age. There was also a safe play area which the children enjoyed. We had the 3 course evening meal, the adult meals were well presented and delicious, but not as much care was taken with the children's food, as my son's pizza was burnt, and served with a lettuce stack! The breakfast offered plenty of choice, the children particularly loved the pancake making machine. Would advise caution if connecting to the Wi fi as we inadvertently Connected to a higher speed broadband which incurred a charge, but this was refunded without any quibble. We would happily stay here again.

We arrived at 12.30pm to be told " you can't check in it's too early, there are no rooms ready as we were full last night". I said I know the procedure but can we leave our luggage? The boy took our luggage but I had to ask for a receipt. Not a good welcome or first impression. Housekeeping was hit and miss. Only 2 towels between 4 of us. One day the bathroom bin was not emptied, no bath mat or extra toilet roll given but worse is that our bed linen was not changed in the 4 nights we stayed. Beds not made nicely, pillows and sleepwear just dumped. Breakfast service was good and our dinner on the Thursday night was good. Overall good location for the Lakes but housekeeping needs improving.

Dear Sue3012

To allow our housekeepers time to turn round the rooms, we do offer check in from 2pm. Although the receptionist was therefore correct in what he told you, I will speak to him so he knows that he could have handled the situation better. Thank you for highlighting this.

I am very sorry to read your comments about housekeeping being 'hit and miss' and I would like to express my sincerest apologies for the dissatisfaction you experienced. Again, please be assured I shall be speaking to the team about your comments.

On a more positive note, I am pleased that overall you enjoyed your stay and that you particularly liked your breakfast and dinner at the hotel.

A convenient place for our purposes -a funeral in a nearby village. Alittle far from Lancaster itselfso not the best place if that is your aim.Had no opportunity to use pool etc. Service fine. I asked for a particular juice not available at breakfast and was given it at no extra cost. All staff very friendly and helpful.

Friendly and helpful staff. Decent food at a reasonable price. We used this hotel as a less expensive alternative to Lake District hotels, and being almost on the M6 (which could not be heard from our room),we were only a short distance away.

Reservations: could not reserve online with pet. 2 calls - still reservation wrong upon arrival; no pet & no double bed.
Reception: could not be bothered with wrong reservation.
Room: hallway carpet worn and dirty; room clean with advertised amenities; wifi would not load a web page - too slow, too weak of a signal; advise putting a warning on shower because the pressure and temperature are so low, you can not expect a sudden burst of heated water when others turn their shower off.
Dinning: bring your own knife if you plan to have meat; tough and dry; potatoes are saturated with fat; cheap wine served at Ritz prices; service good, however, very much like reception, couldn't be bothered if the food was no good - their job is to serve it.
Breakfast same standard fare, coffee Luke warm and bitter.
Would not recommend this hotel as the place to stay, or do business.

Booked in advance on a stop over prior to going to the South Lakes Safari Zoo. Two adults and 1 child, £82 for dinner, bed and breakfast. The hotel is pretty basic but clean with good facilities. For this price we also had use of the leisure facilities which were great. The pool was a lovely temperature and a nice way to spend an hour before dinner. The food was fine, for the offer we had a three course meal which provided a good choice and was of reasonable quality. The only downside was the service, it was appalling. We're not hard to please and usually leave a tip as waiting staff have a tough job being on their feet all day and having to be pleasant to awkward people, however, we couldn't bring ourselves to do this. They weren't particularly busy so had no excuse for repeatedly forgetting to bring us what we'd ordered, remove our plates between courses etc. In the end, we decided to try and by pass the staff with my husband going to the bar and me getting the dessert menu - it really was that bed! We did consider nipping to the kitchen ourselves to get the food. Having said that, we'd still return as the place has a nice family friendly atmosphere and it's exceptionally good value for money.

We decided to use this hotel as it is the closest to our destination ,in the Lake District.
It was an easy check in ,but even though we are Platinum and stay over 70 nights each year in IHG hotels no upgrade was offered as the hotel was full. Fair enough but as we were staying 3 nights we would have expected a better room. Room 313 is not great, it overlooks the kitchen and has a chimney which exhausts constantly day and in to the night. The room also overlooks the kids play area which at school holiday time can be noisy . The room is large and the bed comfortable. The furniture is dated but OK,the carpet however is stained which is off putting. The bathroom was fine with good towels and had the usual toiletries but no extras such as a face cloth.
The restaurant food was good but spoiled by the restaurant being the only access to the kids play area so there is a constant flow of noisy children going in and out to play.
The staff were the saving grace as they make the hotel a much better experience.
We would not stay here again based on this experience.

Room Tip: Do not choose 313 has a problem with exhaust fan from the kitchen.
