Travelled 3 hours with a small child to a dirty room - the housekeeper agreed the bedlinen looked slept on and apologised for the pubic hairs on the bedlinen. The toilet had not been cleaned either and i wrote my name in the mirror it was sooooooooo dusty. Moved to an exec room which was average but not spotless either.
Dinner was very disappointing, childs cottage pie was positively grim, over-cooked,dry and tasteless. Service was slow in a well staffed and not overly busy restaurant. Staff were indifferent.
Breakfast was shambolic, I was up and down asking for tea and coffee, ketchup, no marmalade etc. No organisation of staff. It took 15mins to ascertain no marmalade!
Disappointed as i know this hotel of old and the standards have dropped considerably.

Room Tip: Ask if its been cleaned! Twin rooms seem to be an issue so perhaps a double or king will be better u...

I stayed at this hotel 3 years ago en-route to Scotland and found it in need of decoration. I returned in July and things hadn't changed. Walking to my room at the far end of the hotel past rows of plain magnolia painted doors and walls was a depressing experience. Not a good representative of this chain.

Convenient for the motorway, but relies on a lot of coach parties on way to lakes.

I stay on Holiday Inns all over the world and this one is better than most. Service is good as is the food. Really close to the mortorway so very convienient for the traveller. Dont turn up late though. The car park is long and slim. I arrived at about 9 p.m. and was soaked by the time I had walked to reception.
In the rooms even the executive ones only ever rate as average. Air con good though have stayed in far more expensive hotels when the aircon is a shade on this one. All staff seem friendly and helpful which isn't always the case. Swimming pool and gym are fairly good and better than many a big chain hotel.
Good value.

We booked here using a summer offer for £53 per night bed and breakfast. Room with two double beds was spacious and clean with large freeview TV. Breakfast reasonable buffet style.
Only irritations were that they didn't order the newspaper I specifically asked for on arrival and that the floors numbered G, 2 and 3 are labelled G, 1 and 2 in the stairwell!

The swimming pool and gym are also good.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the River Lune side. There is a pedestrian walkway behing the hotel that takes yo...

Thank you for sharing your feedback. The Holiday Inn Lancaster does benefit from the view of River Lune and the walk (or run!) to either Lancaster or the scenic Crook O'Lune; made famous by landscape artist JMW Turner.

I look forward to welcome you back to the Holiday Inn Lancaster in the near future.

2 night stay as a base to visit morecambe, lake windermere and blackpool. Arrived mid afternoon and allocated an executive room on the third floor at the back. On entry, hairs and other debris on the dressing table. Crumbs on the floor. New sheets on the beds but the room had not been cleaned. Immediately found a cleaner and asked for the bathroom floor to be cleaned, the carpets and the surfaces to be wiped down. This they did; water etc to be brought up later. Further inspection, crumbs in the drawers and the shelves below the mini fridge were thick with dust. Was a 2 single bed room and seemed as though it had not been used recently. Nevertheless, it should have been properly cleaned for a new arrival and if not finished, reception should have asked us to wait. The beds, pillows did not seem up to the standard of other holiday inns we had been to recently. See report on Aylesbury and Salisbury.Did not purchase a breakfast or a drink in the establishment. Wife handed in our holiday inn questionnaire outlining all of the above direct to reception who promised to hand it to the duty manager. No follow up call received. Whilst the staff we approached were willing to assist, the organisation of the housekeeping needs to be looked at. Needless to say, we shall not be visiting lancaster again.
