We enjoyed a fabulous Sunday lunch at The Merchants. The service was friendly and first class. The food was absolutely delicious. Three of us enjoyed tasty starters of black pudding potato cakes made with cheesy mash and one of us had equally delicious potted shrimps. Three roast dinners, one chicken, one lamb and one beef and one burger with bacon and blue cheese were next, served with hot tasty carrots, Savoy cabbage and creamed leeks. So delicious.
Two of us managed to find space for dessert having been tempted by sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownie.
We enjoyed every single mouthful and left more than replete.

My sister organised a Harry Potter themed meal for my bachelorette party and the atmosphere here was perfect. Charlotte and Ailsa were so accommodating and went out of their way to make sure we had fun - even making us special 'potion' drinks in house colours! We had a deli style lunch with all the food being laid out on the table for us to share. I thoroughly recommend the honey-mustard sausages (YUM!). All of my friends said what an amazing time they had, and it put us all in a great mood for the rest of our day out in Lancaster. Thanks so much!

Brilliant food in a lovely cosy setting. 2 of us had the steak and ale pie which was delicious and full of steak. One had the burger and one the fish and chips both of which they said was lovely. The seating is lovely and cosy. Would def reccommend

Located in the ancient city centre of Lancaster, one cannot miss this restaurant located close to the castle in a stroll across. It offers both indoors and outdoors sitting options both of which are just unique. The building has been refurbished from a castle owned wine cellar to this quaint restaurant. Staff is friendly and the prices are reasonable for what they have to offer.

I had arranged for my walking group to dine Tuesday lunchtime at Merchants. We pre-ordered the meals ready for our arrival.
The selection of beers is superb, the staff were excellent, service was brilliant. Even though there were so many covers, the meals were delivered very promptly. Everyone commented on the quality of the dishes.
We were all accomodated together in one of the cellars. Great atmosphere.
Thank you for all your efforts, highly recommended
