“A great break”
Reviewed July 3, 2014

We stayed for 2 nights, nice big rooms, friendly staff ample parking, well decorated bar and dinning rooms and the breakfast was fantastic
nothing like eggs benedict to start the day off,
well located and just a stroll into town or the parks

I cant believe all the poor complaints about this fantastic little hotel. The staff are very friendly and accommodating , the location is close to the town and all the bars and restaurants , the rooms are quirky , but lets face it your not paying silly money to stay at night!! I cant believe some of the whinges , we have been using this hotel every year for the last 4 years. Yes the carpark is small , but do they charge extra for parking NO !!

Room Tip: ask for rooms on the opposite side to the road.

Really lovely hotel, stayed in room 3 which was very clean and welcoming with good facilities. Lovely man checked us in and served us in the bar and restaurant with an equally friendly blonde lady. Both very attentive and willing. Location was perfect, central to town and had entertainment on site at the weekend anyway. Food was perfect. Had a great surf and turf deal. Only faults I can think of was that the bed needed replacing and so did the dark haired breakfast waitress who huffed as she first approached our table and seemed to be very put out by guests. Main road also noisy due to single paned window. Otherwise a great couple of days

We stayed here as part of a 'Get Aways' gift voucher and it was very nice. The Hotel is an old building but it is being refurbished. The staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was delicious. Our room was in the eaves and it was extremely hot, no through air but we had a small fan in the room. The room was spacious, clean, tidy and had everything you needed for a weekend stay. We laughed as the beds were firm and we are not use to this. We would go back there again, good value for a Hotel.

Room Tip: Perhaps ask for a room which is not in the Eaves at the front of the Hotel if the weather is very ho...

We stayed here for a weekend and had a lovely relaxing time. We found the service of a high standard and the food was tasty too. Not much to say but would recommend this place, we just chilled and found this place great for that. The car park was a bit small for the size of the place but not a real problem. We wanted to get away and this was a good place to stay.

My partner and I stayed here for a couple of nights in May. We had a lovely time. The rooms were beautiful and the food was fantastic. I found most of the staff to be helpful and attentive. My only criticism would be the car park, which is not not big enough to accommodate the amount of rooms this hotel has. I read an earlier comment which said a staff member had suggested sarcastically that they park in front of the entrance. I think we may have encountered the same person who suggested that he ask the guests to leave for us when I asked where we could park as it was full. This is unnecessary when guests are trying to ascertain where they can leave their cars.

Nonetheless in short this was a relaxing and lovely hotel with spa rooms, should you want a treatment, and conveniently located to the centre of the town. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a week, to attend a sports event.. The first night there was a private function in the conference room opposite our ground floor room that went on till 1pm. We put up with it as we were watching the football anyway on the tv. Five nights later it was much much worse: loud music, slamming doors, giggling and shouting women, cars starting up, someone trying to open our room door, it felt like it went on till 4pm. We had a big day the next day and I really could have done with more sleep. We had hoped to eat at the restaurant that evening, but with that racket going on and people up and down in the place we decided against it.
On a more positive note: the room was comfortable and clean, good tea and coffee making facilities, plenty of hot water. The duvet was too thick for this time of year, we had brought our own sheet and cover. The springs in the matress can be felt when lying on one's side, I woke up with a stiff back every morning. Breakfast offers fresh fruit salad and a good quality cooked breakfast. Friendly staff, but the reception is often unmanned. We had room 32 on the groundfloor, other rooms might be more comfortable and quiet. The room could really do with a net curtain, people parking their cars look straight into the room, so not much privacy.

Room Tip: room 31 and 32 are near the conference centre and therefore more noisy
