One night stay at Episode Hotel. On arrival there was no one at the reception to greet us, there was another very annoyed couple waiting at the reception, who had booked a restaurant, we waited and waited until finally someone wearing an apron arrived from the kitchen... We were given our key and off we went to our room. Our room was very nice, great decor, in my opinion the room could be smaller to accommodate bigger bathroom. Bathroom was a one thing which let the room really down. It was tiny. I am heavily pregnant and it was really uncomfortable to use this bathroom, especially shower. There was a small opening to enter the shower, made of wall and glass screen. Having a huge belly I found it difficult to enter the shower without scrubbing myself either on the glass or wall. Also very slippery and the hot/cold water worked the other way round to the tap symbols so I ended up standing there under freezing water having the hot turned on until I tried the other way... We spent all day out and when we came back to the hotel we had no space to park. I went to the reception to ask if it was ok to park on the road without getting a ticket, but again there was nobody there, I waited and finally again someone from the restaurant came to see me. He was really rude, although tried to be rude in a 'funny' way about the parking space, he sarcastically suggested that maybe we should park in front of the hotel entrance (which would of course block the entrance), he really thought he was being funny, all I wanted to know if it was ok for us to leave the car on the road! When he finally got my question he said it was ok, thank god... The next day we had a breakfast which was really nice and then we left. Overall good but not great.

The Episode hotel was lovely, stayed for one night. room was clean, very comfy bed & bedding, nice thick towels, love heart sweets were a nice touch. Breakfast was excellent. Staff helpful. Very central location. Only criticism was the wifi did not work in our room - we were on the top floor; & there was a bit of a damp smell in the bathroom. Would use again.

Room Tip: If you definitely need wifi, maybe need a room that is not on the top floor

Just got back from a 2 night break here, we stayed in room 18 which was a converted attic room, it was very nice and clean and couldn't fault it at all.
Walk into the town was around a 10 minute stroll, either going through the park or down the side street, plenty of shops and bars in the town, so nice to eat out. We went to a little Indian Restaurant called Kismet in the old town and the food and service was absolutely outstanding, a good find and a must if you enjoy your indian food.
All in all a nice hotel and convenient for the town centre. But hotel prices for food and drink is quite clearly aimed at the more affluent clientele.

Stayed here with work recently for a team meeting. I seemed to arrive at a time when there was none one working but the bar man, so not a standard welcome !

For work stays there are a few things that we have to tick boxes in one of them being Health and Safety, and unfortunately this hotel was not great for. I asked where the fire exits where in relation to my room, and what was the drill, but he didn't know, and said that the exits are all over the hotel, just look for them. Actually when i got to my room it was just next door.

I also had to ring reception a few times (couldn't find the hair dryer, towels and iron) before anyone answered, so they must have been short staffed.

Room was nice and stylish, I like the plush decor that the hotel has (lights in the hall way and dinning room are fabulous. A few things lacking though, no toiletries, the room was dark as the only light was in the hallway, and bedside lights, and their was no hair dryer. if you do you make up you have to do it in the mirror and keep going back to the table to get your things, so not great for a lady, bathroom had no window, do not great for lighting either.

Important plus points though - a comfy bed , very clean and nice deep bath.

Closing the door was hard, having never used on like it before, was embarrassed that had to ring down to reception to find out how to do it. In fact was not the only one, as two of my colleagues went out without doing it and one of them the door lock didn't work at all plus windows didn't shut in her room !

A great breakfast, but only one member of staff so took a while to come, but was nice when it did, had to eat very quickly as we were late though so didn't get to eat it all.

Unfortunately for these H&S issues with fire safety, and doors not locking we will not be able to use this hotel again which is a shame, as with a few tweaks this stylish hotel would be excellent.

Oh and the bar staff were excellent !

Room Tip: No lift so if you don't like stairs ask for one at the bottom

Midweek stay. Easy parking on site, Very helpful staff esp. Marcus who arranged taxis, researched restaurants, was very helpful in every way-one of the best receptionists we have come accross. We were in room 1 ground floor, 2 bathrooms, good showers, bedroom had giant bed, very comfortable, lighting perfect, breakfast in room-everything as requested, even on return from very late night eating (italian )- bar staff very attentive. Will certainly go again.

Room Tip: Only know about ground floor-can get warm in sunshine so- open the windows-easy
