Stayed dinner, bed and breakfast. This hotel appears to have no receiptionist and no chef. This is the only hotel we have ever stayed in that we did not even attempt the breakfast as I felt so sick after eating the dinner. Awful.

We were lucky enough to be invited to a fabulous wedding held at Ferraris. The weather was wonderful as it was over the Easter weekend and the wedding was held in the outside Gazebo which was lovely although very small and could only sit about 18 guests. I'm not sure what the arrangements are if the weather is not so good. The wedding was great but it is such a shame about the hotel. It really could be amazing as the setting is wonderful but I felt like we were really intruding on someone's home. This was borne out by the number of family portraits up all over the place which was quite bizarre for a hotel. When we arrived, we probably got the most unwelcoming welcome we have ever had. No 'Welcome to Ferraris' or 'Did you have a good journey?' - all we got was 'Name?'. We were given our room key and told that breakfast was served between 7.00 and 9.30 am but no other pleasantries at all. Our room was small but had fabulous views over the gardens and the wedding gazebo but it was cluttered with old, oversized furniture. The bathroom was very outdated with a toilet seat which was too small for the toilet. The full Yorkshire breakfast was very good but again served to us with no finesse - just plonked down. It is such a shame as the hotel could be wonderful. Other guests told us that some of the rooms had been updated with jacuzzis in so it may be best to pay extra for a refurbished room. As we were attending a wedding, I did get my hair done at Longridge Hair - absolutely amazing and I would definitely recommend it. Overall, we did enjoy the wedding but I wouldn't choose to stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a refurbished room.

I booked a family meal for mothers day & was very disappointed, we have been here a few years ago but standards have definately gone down, decor & seating is now very old & tired, on arriving we were not acknowledged, on getting drinks we coudnt find a table and received no help from the staff so our party had to split up & sit on seperate tables whilst waiting for our order to be taken, when the lady did take our order she didnt smile oncenor apologise for our party having to be split, ( had to remind myself that we were paying customers). The restaurant was busy so we were seated in the function room which is used for weddings this felt very impersonal as it was half empty. Our meal was very rushed no bread rolls offered, even the soup arrived with no rolls so we had to ask, the main course was served very rushed with minimal vegetables & no offer of usual mint sauce or mustard etc. & not very good choice of sweets, which again was rushed, on paying I told them of our grievances of which they took hardly any notice couldnt get my debit card fast enough & was told I should of asked & no apology!!!!!!
none of our party of 8 enjoyed it & we will definately not be going again.

Hi this is my 1st review and the only reason I am doing it, is because of my disapointment with FERRARIS Hotel.

We went on a recent social event, and when I was told about the booking I was advised that I should book a room if we were going to stay over sooner rather than later as it is an exceptional Hotel that will get booked up very quickly. This I did the same day.

After checking out the website for details about the hotel and all of the different rooms that were available I was very confident that it would be the perfect hotel in the perfect setting.

WRONG

Perfect setting YES,, perfect Hotel NOT.

I felt like I was stepping back into the late 60's or early 70's!!! Heavy patterned carpet, loads and loads of clutter everywhere, eerie portraits of presumably family, pictures all over the place of family!! old fashioned jugs, ornaments and junk all over the place. The bar area was a mish mash of chairs and tables that didn't match. The lady who served us couldn't even muster a smile even though it is guests like me and others that are basically keeping them in business.

Then to our room...£85 per night... Should be great.... NOT SO... we had a room called FELL VIEW tiny window over looking a roof, a wall, a detached house oh yes and slightly to one side our FELL VIEW!!!

The bed has a mattress on it that had basically collapsed and had a massive dent in it, when you lay on the bed you literally rolled into the middle. There was a dresser/desk but no chair, there was no mirror above the dresser or plug so there was no where to apply make-up or dry your hair. The mirror in the room was at the back of the TV where there was no proper light or anywhere to put cosmetics. To the bathroom which was the best part of the room but the glasses that where in there were filthy and not cleaned.

Then there was the smell in the over all Hotel. FOOD that was all you could smell surely you should be able to go to your room and it not be polluted with the smell of greasy chip fat!!!

All I can say is that I was very disappointed and wont go again

Great location and fabulous food. The staff are very accommodating. Drinks were rather pricey and the bedrooms are in need of refurbishment.

Can't belive some of the other reviews , did they stay at another place by mistake ?

Love the Italian heritage they are so proud of , love the food, love the rooms.

If you want glitz and glam don't go to a real country house like this.

If you want a home from home this is the place !

Myself and my partner have just attended a wedding at what we thought would be a stylish country house hotel in the heart of the Ribble Valley,if we were to go on previous reviews in Tripadvisor. How totally inaccurate these reports are and it is no suprise that in December 2010,the proprieters were on TV ,complaining they had no customers booked for the festive season. It is no suprise!

The original owner Lord Derby who used the house as a hunting lodge would be turning in his grave if he could see now what his home had become.Being a keen traveller , myself and my partner enjoying quality boutique hotels and country house retreats ,we had a very unpleasant suprise when entering these premises. It was like entering a shabby 1970's boarding house-infact it is most likely this was the last time the place was decorated. The walls of the public rooms certainly make the most of the Ferrari brand, emblazoned with tacky plastic pictures of Ferrari cars ,horses and the Ferrari family ,who according to bar staff are in no way related to the car brand. The decor is dull and very tired and outdated, and the public rooms contain a clutter of totally uncoordinated furniture ,heavy patterned carpets and soft furnishings which are very unpleasant to the eye.The bar area where we headed on arrival was reminiscent of a working mans club from the 1950s-just dreadful!

The supposedly welcoming reception was a walk in cupboard where an unwelcoming lady (one of the proprieters) checked us in.No offer was made to assist us with our luggage or to guide us to our room.It was an effort for her to serve us.

On eventually finding our room and struggling with our own luggage we let ourselves into a supposed deluxe room ,which we paid £110 for.We could not believe what we had been provided with. The room was dark, damp and unclean.Cobwebs a plenty. The bed mattress was foam and 3/4 in size -not even a double. We were appalled! The room again was cluttered with nick nacks again reminiscent of the 1970s.We opened our wardrobe and the bottom section of the unit was missing and sides of the unit showed evidence of a leak.It was a disgrace.

The next morning the smell of greasy bacon breakfasts pervaded the air ,as we made our way to reception to check out.We could have been in a boarding house in Blackpool!
The highlight of our trip to this venue was departing it!

Be warned -I would be very wary of the reviews on Tripadvisor declaring this venue wonderful. This could not be more further from the truth. If you need to book somewhere in this locality stick to the Gibbon Bridge or the Inn at Whitewell.Ferraris is a country BOARDING house and is best avoided if you are looking for a stylish ,clean and friendly country retreat.Be advized ,the bad reviews of this hotel tell the TRUTH OF THE SITUATION!
