“Excellent cycle route”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2013

Well done to Geoff Driver and Preston Council, this is one of very few visionary constructions in Preston. Let's face it, Preston has a very unattractive town centre but a bike ride round the Guild Wheel highlights what an enjoyable place it can be. Would someone PLEASE sort out the mess in the town centre using the same visionary thinking...?

“Fantastic.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2013

It was our first time on the Guild Wheel, we decided to set off at Brockholes Visitor Centre and ride to the Docks at Preston. We set off not knowing the exact route, it was absolutely great, the route was fantastic, and took us along the riverbank all the way into Preston, the only main road we crossed was just approaching Preston near the Shaws Arms. I found that with small children, I did not have to worry as much about traffic which was great. We stopped en route at Avenham Park in the play area, and then had our lunch at the Riverside Café, which was really nice, we hadn't realised there was a café there until that day. We will definitely return, but will set off from the docks next time and ride towards Brockholes.

“Love it! ”

Cycled the Guild Wheel on Sunday for the fourth time. It was great to see so many people enjoying it on foot and by bicycle and everyone with a smile. Preston looks so good from this perspective!

“Superb.”

I did the ride to day for the first time and it was well worth the effort. Well done Preston. Just need to keep an eye on some of the signs. Mostly signed extremely well but then in some places nothing!!

“Great Facility”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 3, 2013

I am not the biggest fan of Preston Council but whoever thought this up deserves a big pat of the back.
As I live near the actually route I have used the paths for years for running and walking the dog. Most had been unsuitable for cycling (less mountain bikes) and now the surfaces have been improved you could probably ride most of the route on a racing bike. There are a couple of points which involve crossing busy roads or it is not an ideal fit but the budget was not available to build bridges etc.
The number of people using the path is a testimony to its success although some could be more considerate of other users - cyclists expecting right of way and travelling too fast, litter louts and dog owners should pick up the poo that their dogs leave. Overall, a superb facility.
