“A good rainy day attraction”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

A good attaraction for a rainy day. Housed in a historic and interesting building, the museum has a number of displays relating to the county and the history of the building.
Entry and parking are free and the cafe is reasonable.

“First rate museum - well worth a visit”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

Great museum - we were there a couple of hours and will definitely go back. An interesting range of topics were very well-covered including a 'courtroom' area (building was originally the local courthouse), a Victorian schoolroom, rooms on the local regiments, wartime Britain and much more. Cafe serves snacks, toasties, sandwiches, soup and very reasonably-priced. Friendly welcome from the staff and free parking. Next door to Preston Prison. Would be ideal for school trips - will be mentioning it to my son's primary school.

Good for a free museum. Takes about an hour to visit. Good variety of topics covered. Not worth a long drive though.
