Worst hotel I have stayed in for last 51 days on the road

Worst service. Rip-off prices on wifi etc

Start - arrival. Surly receptionist who seemed incapable at speaking at above a whisper. he could not find my confirmed booking. Irritated I had a UK passport but a Spanish address!

Rang the friend who had booked it and I then was abused for not having told him who it had been booked through...I did not know!

Wifi prices are obscene and if the room had not already been paid for I would have gone to the prestigious Marriot 400 yards away where for 20 GBP more I could have had quality service, bigger room etc etc Had to get on WWW as I had a lot of work to do so paid the price!.

Eventually got to my room. Spent almost two hours trying to get internet to work. The receptionist (to be fair) arrived promptly to try to resolve issue. Helpful enough but he knew less than my granddaughter. Put me through to a 0800 help-line where girl knew less than my unborn great grandaughter and struggled in English. I then tried the on-TV internet. No battery in keyboard. Went downstairs and was given a replacement keyboard. Got on but only web-browser. By now, I was ready for bed.

A friend rang from Sweden 4 times but could not get an answer .... only one member of staff in whole hotel? I rang to check why she had not got through and, yes....no answer!

Good for a weekend away, so long as you get a ''deal'' on the rate. Full price feels a bit much for what you get...i.e. standard rate £47 pn we booked 3 nights on a deal for £99 which felt about right.

Breakfast OK but items were not replenished quickly....had to ask for orange, milk, cereals & coffee machine to be replensihed! Then again what do you expect for a budget price hotel?

Recommended if you just want somewhere to get you head down. Rooms quite comfortable but bedsheets are a little small for the bedsize!

Had to be in the area for business. Booked the room for £33 and believe it was a great deal. Slept like a rock, easy access, restaurant next to it. Best value for money I have had for a long time.

Stayed at Preston Ibis Hotel for one night. Very easy to find and plenty of car parking spaces. Car park has plenty of CCTV coverage so felt safe leaving majority of luggage in vehicle overnight. Took our pet dog and unlike majority of competitors hotel made no charge. Very pet friendly hotel. Car park is big so plenty of space to walk dog last thing at night. Breakfast was good. Although described as continental type breakfast bacon, sausages, beans and scrambled egg also available. For those not wishing to take advantage of snack menu in hotel there is a pub next door which has a varied menu and at the time we stayed was doing two meals for £10. Did not go inside as arrived late in evening but looked extremely good value for money having looked at menu outside. Staff in hotel were most helpful and would use this hotel again.

Booked family room for 1 night approx 1 week before arrival. On getting out of lift on 3rd floor, obvious smell of smoking. room allocated had severe smell of smoke. Returned to reception to be informed half of 3rd floor rooms are delegated smoking rooms (apparently Ibis policy?). Asked why was delegated smoking room when never requested (family room only request made) was told that was reason we got it at £47 rate? Tariff behind receptionist head stating ALL rooms £47 (receptionist admitted this was case on further questioning). Offered optional room on 3rd floor (supposedly non-smoking), on inspection room ISQ re: smell with ash deposits on window sill. Asked for alternative rooms/hotels and basically given couple of names to try.
