The location is ideal for us to visit the in-laws in Garstang. The hotel staff are always polite and very helpful - needed extra pillows and they were put in our room instantly.
The room itself is basic but has everything you need. The broadband was very annoying to access using my own laptop - kept trying to get me to purchase Orange broadband although I had already paid for it in the room tariff in advance. Good choice of movies etc in package. The bed - hmmm, although the bed linen was clean and fresh, this really needs to be updated! The bed was soft and sloped inwards so lots of roll together and also sloped upwards towards foot area, not a good sleep at all.
The bathroom had basic products such as shower gel, tablet soap, cups etc but the drains/washbasin doesn't smell so good! The shower area is great, although I personally prefer a bath with shower over.
Although it is not the fault of the hotel that other people staying are totally ignorant and slam their room doors and corridor doors at all hours of the night, I think that they could improve door closure and add cushioning, as I have experienced in other hotels. The 2nd night we stayed, we were lucky to have a few hours sleep (and after a whole day at a relative's funeral, sleep was much needed!). Unfortunately with a very uncomfortable bed, we also had neighbouring rooms full of dogs!! who barked constantly through the night. The owners also took them for walks late at night and very early in the morning which resulted in even more barking. This was extremely frustrating and frankly, should not be allowed! I will definitely look into hotels that do not allow pets next time! However, having said that, we have stayed here many times and will probably return, as long as there is an offer on. Had I paid full price for the room I would have demanded a refund!
The pub nextdoor is excellent, we have had good, value for money food in the Phantom Winger and the breakfast is far better value than in the hotel itself. £7.50 for a continental breakfast at the hotel versus £3.50 for a full breakfast with juice etc in the pub.
Summary - ok for a short visit of a night or two, but would not stay longer than this due to lack of sleep.

For a short stay this is not bad, attentive staff, clean room, not to noisy. great location for M6 and Preston is just a few miles down the road. better choice at the resturant next to the Ibis if you want food. over all good value for the money. £46 through booking.com.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the car park, 1st or 2nd floor will be quieter.

Good location for access to Preston, Wigan and sourrounding area. Will stay again if travelling in this area. Breakfast really good value.Brewers Fayre next door handy for a quick meal, more choice than the menu in Ibis. Other residents said food was Ok. All staff very helpful and attentive.

Location was perfect for us as we were attending a family wedding in the village just north the motorway junction. (can't say anything about the location in reference to Preston, sorry). Also was only a 15 minute drive from Blackpool.
Quick check in 12 noon which was an major plus point as we could change before the do. Requested a room car park side as the motorway noise was quite obvious.
Room was large and a decent sized bathroom (far larger than ibis rooms on the continent).
One annoying thing was that if you watched tv for more than 30 minutes, then a message appeared on the tv screen about it shutting down (and we couldn't clear this message)
Didn't eat breakfast as we left early the next day so can't comment there.
In short, decent budget stay and covered our needs.
