“Lovely”

We had a working lunch here yesterday. Both opted for the Cottage Pie which was piping hot and incredibly tasty.

The staff were very attentive, prompt but not over bearing. Looking forward to returning soon.

“WORTH A VISIT”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2013

We've just been to the Sparling on Valentines day but dined in the afternoon on the normal menu which was very extensive, the atmosphere at the Sparling is tranquill regardless of how busy the restaurant is, the manager can be a little overfacing, but the food is wonderful, the goats cheese pannacotte is to die for and on the day we had baby halibut which was out of this world, wish we had enough room for one of the lovely sweets but icecream was all we could manage but even this was delightful, we have dined here several times and never been disappointed and eaten from both the main menu and the value menu they are as equally delightful

“Lovely day for some fine dining”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2013

I went to the first time as it was my Mum's birthday. The food was excellent, I had Goats cheese pannacotte, which was an interesting dish, however the main attraction was the Catch of the day with enormous chips and lovely tartar sauce and peas.A definite wow factor. Staff extra attentive and we all had a lovely lunch. My only gripe was as there was just three of us , we were seated at a small table , usually for 2, behind a wall so felt a bit like we were eating in the bar, it was a lovely day and the dining area has well lit open space, would have liked to have sat looking out of the window, we are a tall family and felt kind of hemmed in. Next time we go, we will ask to sit elsewhere!

Had the two for ten pound offer at lunchtime on the 6th February, amazing value!! The food was all freshly cooked and decent portions.
The female manager/ waitress was a gem, helpful, polite and obliging.

“Absolutely delicious! A must visit!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 5, 2013

We visited The Sparling on a Monday evening (2 adults, 1x4 year old and 1x6 month old). From the moment we walked in we were spoilt by excellent service. The Owner (or Restaurant Manager) could not do enough for us and provided us with various menus including set menus all of which had an amazing range of delicious meals. We chose the main menu so slightly more expensive. I had the Thai fishcakes for starters and the Goosnargh duck breast for main! Both perfectly seasoned, flavoured, cooked and presented. My husband had the pate and lamb. Again perfect. Our eldest daughter had sausage, mash and beans from the 'Little People Menu.' (nice touch). 2 whopping sausages and very tastey. She then had the fruit platter to follow, again great. We then decided to have the desert to share and were provided with scrummy and super tastey deserts to eat. Not only was the wine great but so was the food and the service. We will be making a lot more visits to the Sparling and have told all our friends about the place! Thank you!
