“background noise problems”
Reviewed December 7, 2012

lovely place, staff very friendly and attentive. But i found it very noisey the background music was on a loop (a very short loop) that drove me mad after hearing it 200 times but you could only just hear it which was a shame coz all i heard was clacking plates and chatter. The problem may have been the accoustics wooden floors and bare tables that would be better suited to a cafe in my opinion.
The food was nice but could be great with a few tweeks, dessert was fab, fish cakes and pate starters were very good too, just no ambiance not a place to propose to your sweetheart you'd have to shout above the clacking plates and chatter.
Hope the piped music is better over the christmas period or i don't think i will be going again.

“Very, very nice.”
Reviewed December 2, 2012

We arrived late on a Saturday night without a reservation and were found a table for 2. The restaurant was quite busy and I think we may have got the last table, although we certainly didn't feel as if we had been squashed in. The tables are well spaced and the place has a very nice atmosphere.
The staff were all very attentive and we were asked several times if we were happy with our meal.
The food was excellent and very good value for money. Some very nice beer on tap.
We would certainly recommend a visit.

“Perfect combination of food, service & decor”
Reviewed November 27, 2012

I adore this place. The food is always excellent and the service is second to none. The decor is clean and modern and it is conveniently located with a large car park. The menu has a excellent range of options. I have tried the steaks, salads, pasta, fish and burgers - cant fault any. I would also recommend the sticky toffee pudding, a real treat. The owner seems to be present at lunchtimes and he ensures that the service is tip top. I was in one evening recently and the lady who seemed to be in charge didn't seem to run such a tight ship as the gentleman owner (and one of the waiters even spilt some gravy on me - v tasty gravy i would add) but even then it was better than most! The value for money is superb with mains ranging from c£8 to c£20, enough to please most budgets. There is a very welcoming bar area too and all dining tables are nicely spaced out. Overall would recommend this place to anyone.

“Not so sure...”
Reviewed November 26, 2012

Decided to go out for lunch one weekday, and having read all the reviews, picked this restaurant. Arrived to a strong smell of bleach (not a bad sign, obviously keen to keep clean). The service was good, the food less so. Some parts of each dish were overly large - pate could have been halved for example. The quality of the desserts was mixed too - one good, one not so good.

All in all, we should have gone on a Sunday!
