we arrived at the park hotel on Wednesday afternoon.we were visiting my sister and brother in-law who lives in Preston. we was greeted pleasantly by a member of staff, who gave us our key and went through a few things (breakfast finishes at 8:45, which i personally thought was a little too early! possibly state this on the booking.com advertisement?) we went to our room, which was lovely, we had a nice big bed, big bath loads of pillows, fully working hairdryer. it was a very comfortable first night. when we woke up, we found that the pillows had fallen down the back of the bed due to a vast pass between the headboard and bed, which resulted in painful necks. we missed breakfast so decided to go to a cafe in town... we spent £30 all together during our stay on cab fair due to the hotel being so far away from the center. when we got back we began getting ready for an evening out, i dropped a hair clip under the wardrobe, as i picked it up my hand was covered in caramel and peanuts yet we didn't have anything with peanuts due to my brother in-law being seriously allergic to nuts and banned any form of nut during our stay just in case! our room wasn't at all seen to, so we had no fresh towels and toiletries. before we left for our evening out, my partner went downstairs and asked for 2cans of coke and a small packet of crisps, the cans were multipack cans yet it still cost us £5!!

we made it for breakfast on our last morning. i was expecting something amazing due to the hotel having awards for their breakfast, but i was slightly disappointed. while their was enough to eat, it tasted like it had been waiting around under a light or reheated. the bacon was dry and the egg was like rubber.

i'll give them their due, they let us stay an extra half an hour after check out, which i was grateful for.
we checked out, and began making our way to my sisters house to see her before we left for London. my phone was on silent, and when i arrived at my sisters house, i found i had two voice mails from the park hotel. the first one was an extremely rude voice mail accusing my partner and i of STEALING their pillows! the second one was still a rude voice mail accusing us of deliberately "stuffing them down the back of the bed". it felt to me like the housekeeper just walked into the room, and threw her accusations out before having a look around and cleaning properly. so folks if you dont mind mess under the wardrobes, ropy bacon and eggs, expensive cans of coke and cab fairs, and accused of stealing- the park hotel is for you!

Room Tip: if you are a contractor, a builder or n Preston for business, maybe you'd have had a better expe...

Spent three seperate weeks at the hotel, (booked and arranged on my behalf by employer), the rooms were cold, heating was on for a couple of hours morning and evening, not enough to warm the old building with single glazed windows.
No HOT water during the last three days of my stay. Menu never changed as detailed on website. The bar/restaurant is not open on Sunday's, room service only. One evening waited over one hour for someone to appear and serve me, never arrived so obtained evening meals elsewhere. TV/internet poor, continously disconnecting. Would not stay again.

Room Tip: Would suggest Premier Inn or Travel Lodge

Thank you for your recent review. After having a few friendly chats with you at the hotel on your three visits with us I have to say I am quite disappointed that you felt that you could not of come to us with any of the issues that you may of experienced and instead decided to write about them online. I am sure you must of known how friendly and approachable we all are here at The Park Hotel and we would gone above and beyond to make sure that these issues were resolved for you promptly. As we could not resolve these issues personally which saddens me, I shall try and give you the resolutions in my reply. Firstly the heating, our central heating is on in the mornings from 5.30am - 9am and then from 4pm - 10pm in the evening, most guests say that it can get too warm but for those that feel the cold there is an oil-filled radiator in all of the bedrooms which can be left on all night if the guests wish, so nobody should ever feel cold here. Secondly nowhere on our website does it say that our menu changes weekly, it changes every 6 months or so like most hotels. Once again if you had approached us I could of offered you many different alternatives in terms of meals. The issue that really confused us is how you could of come down for dinner and waited over an hour for someone to tend to you. I cannot understand this especially as you ate every night for the first two weeks of your stay, and you knew Nicola and knew that she went into the bar frequently to check if anybody has come down, if she is not in the bar or restaurant she is working in the office which has a monitor and can see if there is anybody in the bar area and will go out immediately to attend to the guest. As for the hot water, unfortunately we had a broken pump on the boiler(which also caused us a big inconvenience but was beyond our control) and unfortunately it took a day and a half to get fixed, I can only apologise here for the inconvenience caused by this breakdown, but once again if you had spoken to us we could of moved you to a room with an electric shower and rectified this problem for you immediately. Once again may I apologise for any inconvenience caused to yourself whilst staying at The Park Hotel, if you had of alerted me to these issues at the time of your stay then we could of rectified them there and then. I do hope this response helps and may we take this opportunity to wish you well in the future.
Best Regards
Louise

This is the hotel that all smaller hotels should aspire to. I stayed at the Park Hotel for nearly 2 weeks whilst i was working in Preston and surrounding area. Location was perfect as it was pretty central to where i need to be. The building is very well maintained and has a very warm feeling. I opted for a Supirior Double room. It was absolutley Gorgeous. Very comfy bed, great shower, Flat screen TV and a big brown leather sofa to chill out on. The staff were excellent and went over and above the call of duty, especially the girl that tended to breakfast and the girl that tended to the even meal and bar. Both are a credit to your establishent.
Food was also of a very high standard. Will definately be back.

We stayed here whilst in the north west for a 50th birthday party in Chorley - because this is one of the very few hotels that can accomodate a family of four without requiring you to book two rooms. We had the grandly titled 'Penthouse' in the attic, comprising of a small entrance lobby, 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with twin singles, a bathroom with loo, shower and sink, and a little lounge area too. The decor is sympathetic to the original design of the house, and whilst the planned redecorating has not made it to the top of the house yet, we were conmfortable and had everything we needed. Tea, coffee, hot choc and kettles in both bedrooms, ironing board and iron (ideal for the pre-party peparation), and small fridge too. The staff are all very friendly, very welcoming, and endlessly accommodating and helpful. Breakfast is lovely, with options to suit every appetite, and endless supplies of tea and coffee to help you recover on that post-party morning. We took a taxi into town to go shopping, as we were advised that it was cheaper and quicker for four of us, than catching the bus - though the stop is literally just round the corner from the hotel. Staying out late is no problem - the doors are locked after a certain time but you are provided with an access code to let yourself in. Off road parking is plentiful, and overall we were very impressed. We paid £210 for 2 nights, for four of us (2 adults, and two teenagers). I travel a lot for work and have added this to my list of top places to stay - will definitely be back.

Room Tip: The rooms in the original building retain the Victorian style of the house, and are decorated and fi...

An extended Victorian mansion set in an area that still retains elements of its original parkland situation, I've stayed at the Park hotel many times over the past couple of years and will continue to do so. Business, weddings, touring, whatever, this hotel is suitable. Transport is easy, the Fylde coast is 20 minutes away and open countryside extending through to the Ribble Valley and Bowland starts just to the north. A breath of fresh air in more ways than one.

Room Tip: The rooms in the old house are individual and full of character, those in the extensions more modern...

My 1st time staying at this hotel & I certainly wasn't disappointed. A really charming place with very warm, welcoming staff who make you feel at home. I had a lovely room with a 4 poster bed which was very clean as was the bathroom. If you want to venture into Preston, it's only a short walk to the bus stop. I stayed here on business but would definitely choose to stay here on a leisure trip. Very good price at £68 including breakfast which was also lovely with a nice selection to choose from. A definite must stay hotel.
