“Comfy pillows!”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

My husband and I stayed last night for our firdt wedding anniversary,
On arrival the reception staff were lovely and friendly. The room was clean and tidy if not a bit dated.
The walled garden restaurant was nice. My husband enjoyed his meal however I was dissapointed with the choices. They were a little "fancy" for my liking. A good old fillet steak would have been nice. The service in the restaurant was a little slow. I was not offered the wine list and had to ask for it.
There was a function on in the hotel which had sole use of the hotel bar. This was a let down as we had to sit in a corner in the reception area to have a post meal drink. The wedding guests kept looking at us like we were intruding their wedding. This was off putting as it was also a celebration for us!
The bed was vv comfy and the breakfast fantastic!!! However as there were so many loud wedding guests in the dining room we again felt like "intruders" as we were sat in the middle of them!

Stayed here for one night in March following a function.

The meal at the function was fine and what can I say about the breakfast? Splendid would be a good word I think.

Very friendly staff in all areas.

Highly recommended.

Arrived late very friendly welcome at reception . Single room clean and well appointed loved the mini bar ! If a bit expensive. Well appointed reception areas great to sit relax liked the bar billiards table.

Restaurant looked nice , attended to by the staff immediately but the menu looked a little heavy few salad or vegetarian options, everything sourced locally. Decided to try local Indian restaurant.

Didn't use the leisure facilities looked ok.

Breakfast excellent served in a small bistro off reception. Good choice well cooked.

Would recommend.

Room Tip: If you get 121 it's a single room near the staircase not far to walk to recep

We stayed for two days and were delighted with our choice of venue for a significant birthday celebration. From first point of contact the details were helpfully managed and we could find nothing unacceptable. The staff are pleasant , polite and helpful in both reception and restaurants. The bed was huge and comfortable and all was spotlessly clean and despite a loud event on one evening in part of the hotel the bedroom was very quiet.
The food both at breakfast and dinner at night was delicious and of good variety. A wonderful experience. Will be back for more very soon.

I often travel to Preston with work and have previously stayed at the Marriott, however this time it was fully booked and we decided on the Barton Grange instead. This proved to be a very fortunate turn of events as the Barton Grange really was excellent.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, despite a large function taking place at the same time as our arrival. The rooms were pleasant, comfortable and very quiet. The facilities at the hotel were very good; the pool, sauna and gym areas were very clean and with very few people using them it felt like you had the whole place to yourself.

The crowning jewel at the Barton Grange was the restaurant. The food was excellent, locally sourced with a menu that changed on a daily basis. I had black pudding and poached egg to start, followed by 'trio of pork' and then the 'ice cream creation' to finish it off. All were delicious and I would happily eat it all again! The food was so good on the first night we cancelled our restaurant reservation elsewhere for our second night and returned to the hotel.

I have no doubt we will be staying here again when we return to Preston.

This was a superb weekend everyone was most helpful and nothing was too much trouble. One was well looked after and everything was smoothed out. Food was first class and a good varied selection was on call. Must try and get back sooner rather than later. We stayed under the name of Musa as our daurgter had given us the trip

Room Tip: Any all really good

The hotel, viewed from outside and the public rooms are all very stylish and modern but the bedrooms (at least the ones we stayed in) were rather dated....However that didn't really matter as once in the room you then realise just how immaculately clean it is.....dated yes but one of the cleanest hotel rooms I have ever been in....the staff were all very pleasant and welcoming and obviously their housekeeping staff are first class.....I cannot comment on the food as we didn't eat in the hotel we were visiting relatives and ate with them but I can imagine the standard will be high...great weekend in very clean and pleasant surroundings ...would stay again when back in the area..oh I have to say it is also one of the most quiet hotels I have ever stayed in...there was a wedding on and we never heard a thing not even noise from the lift which was almost outside the room!!!

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the rear of the hotel and there were no problems .....silence was golden..
