Room ok, spa amazing, breakfast amazing!! Staff.... Not English. Wanted a nice break in England all the staff were foreign would of gone abroad if I wanted to embrace the Eastern European culture! Avoid getting a smoking room the window don't open fully so room stinks!! Don't get drinks on tab sure they add a few on!! Would recommend a massage amazing! x

Stayed at the Marriott Garstang Road Preston Lancashire.3 nights. 7th-10 June 2013 for a family party elsewhere. The beds were so old and hard we had no sleep for the entire stay. We complained and 4 duvets were put on top of the mattress, this made no difference and 4 of us had awful bad backs by the end of our stay. probably better had we slept in the chair.
The breakfast was lovely. food was a bit to pricy in the restaurant.
On checking out no member of staff asked if we had had a good stay or even we'll see you again. Nothing. Not good enough for a 4* hotel.
We can only say if your on an over night conference that would be sufficient
Never stay there again until all the beds are renewed. For us its Back to Crown Plaza where ul want to take the bed home.

Room Tip: ask for a new bed.

Hotel and the staff were just 1st class, our room 142 on ground floor, well I hope you dont ever get put in there, room OK but bathroom smelled of stale urine, so bad that I said about it at reception, said they were very sorry and would get someone in while we were at dinner to have a deep clean, well when we got back to our room as soon as you opened door you could smell the cleaning products, they had used in bathroom so it had been cleaned but as soon as that smell went there was still the very bad smell of the stale urine, said a second time someone else was sent to clean bathroom while we were out for the day, came back and yes it had been cleaned but urine smell was still there. all that was done was staff to say how sorry they were, told them not there fault, it was down to the house keeper to keep on top of bad smells. When we checked out said again about the smell and it wasnt really on putting people in a room with a bathroom that smelled. have emailed Marriott Head office about this, dont know if we will get a reply.

Room Tip: Dont have room 142

The hotel is well situated in its own grounds and out of the city centre with immediate access to the motorway system making Blackpool, Lytham, The Lakes etc easy to reach. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The breakfast was excellent and the bar was relatively inexpensive for this type of establishment. The room was quite small which could possibly reflect the fact that I was using Tesco vouchers for the majority of the payment. Having said that we would definitely visit again.

An out of town hotel looking to sell its 'country house' feel. There is no doubt that time, effort and money have been spent maintaining the public rooms of this hotel. The restaurant and bar reflect this, and whilst we were not there to attend a function, the 2 large function suites appear to deliver as well. The staff were all very friendly and keen to help.
The small number of rooms in the main part of the building are labelled 'superior' with an appropriate hike in the rates. The standard 'delux' rooms are in a separate building to the rear of the main house. These rooms are well furnished but not generous in size. The bathroom was looking tired. Old, discoloured grout and sealant had been masked with thick beads of new sealant - a simple trick that doesn't bear close scrutiny.
Breakfast is a help yourself buffet. The quality was fairly good and the choices reasonable, though not generous.
If attending a function at the hotel, then I would recommend staying here; if not, I am less sure. Whilst the function suites are in their own building, their are in close proximity to the main accommodation block. The noise of music playing and smokers grouped outside was a significant detraction. If this is going to annoy you, think hard about which room to accept, or whether somewhere else would be better.

Room Tip: Even numbered standard rooms are on the side facing the function rooms and overspill car park; lower...

Impressive entrance and grounds surrounding substantial heritage looking hotel. Generously large rooms with good facilities and the friendly ''old style' service made this a comfortable overnight stay for us. Breakfast was highlighted by provision of omelettes made to order, and the accompanying service was attentive and delivered with a willingness to please. Matters were attended to calmly and without rush, and we were left with the impression of a hotel experience of old style tradition. Of particular value to us was the immediacy of access off and onto M6 enabling us to very efficiently take a break on our way to Scotland.

Used on short weekend trip to England, hotel is placed on attractive park grounds. Got this old-tradition style. The breakfast was decent - made to order omelets are included in standard breakfast price.

Unfortunately there is very little recognition for Marriott loyalty program members. I was not offered any upgrade, exec floor or lounge access. Receptionist did ask about morning newspaper so I made my choice but it was neither delivered to the room or offered at the breakfast time.
