“Good but a few little slip ups”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

Booked to stay here for one night as part of a spa deal.

Overall it's a nice enough hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious with big beds and a reasonably sized, clean bathroom. The staff encountered all seemed friendly and polite.

The restaurant is ok, although not a huge choice on the menu. The wrong dishes were brought to our table three times as well as a couple of other mistakes throughout the evening. Food was nice enough though and the staff were friendly. Being a weekend waitress myself I understand that mistakes happen.

There was also a mix up with times for our spa treatment. We had a different time sent to us by email, which was half an hour later than the spa were expecting us. Didn't exactly put us in the relaxing mood we had hoped for. That being said the actual treatments were very good.

So as I mentioned above, a good hotel but a few disappointments considering the price.

We booked in quite late. The hotel was busy with a wedding andcpeoplecwatchingvrugby but once we were in our room we were away from it all.
We had dinner early and it was quite an unremarkable experience. Nothing wrong with it but it won't stay long in the memory. Breakfast was much better and was enjoyable. Probably the highlight of our brief stay was the fact. That the leisure club was open until 10:30 and so we were able to enjoy the facilities on our own. It was like having our own private pool. most enjoyable. The room was small but comfortable, the bedding fitted the bed and it was a most comfortable night. My companion felt the bathroom/ furnishings were tired but everything was clean and in working order.

Room Tip: For good value, make sure you book online before you pitch up at the hotel. The staff explained that...

I've stayed here twice now, and both times I've been very happy. This is a charming hotel, set back off the road, and would make a lovely setting for a wedding if you're looking for that sort of thing. :) I've traveled here on business and all the food at the hotel has been fabulous (breakfast, dinner and food in the lounge). The rooms are a good size and very clean. There is a pants press, iron, ironing board in the room as well, so it's nice you don't have to ask for those things separately. The shower is nice, and water pressure is good. There is also a kettle and minibar in the room.

Internet appears to be only through a wired connection, which is fine for me, but if you prefer wireless this could be an issue. There is also quite a lovely gym attached to the hotel - probably the best "hotel gym" I've ever used. I actually think it's a legitimate gym that outside people can buy memberships to, and it just so happens to be in the hotel so if you're a guest you get access for free! Fantastic for the fitness-savvy traveler!

Room Tip: There are some elevators, but if you have mobility issues, or just don't like stairs, I'd su...

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend in jan 2013. The building itself is nice with lovely grounds but hotel service and rooms were okay.

In our room there were plenty facilities, tea, coffee, iron etc but the mini bar was 'out of service'

The rooms weren't very clean, especially the bathroom and I had to search for a clean plate at breakfast,

The food was very nice and there was plenty choice for breakfast but the restaurant was closed on a Friday night. I can only presume this was because it was quiet? people were eating in the bar though but we decided to venture elsewhere.

Overall it was okay but needs to up it's game if it is to compete with other marriott hotels.

Lovely hotel. Have stayed there a few times now. Lovely grounds. Great if you want to be away from the town, bus stop outside to take you into town if you want or jump in a cab. Great rooms, great staff. Very relaxing. Take your swim wear so you can enjoy the pool and spa. Will always book it if available.

It's refreshing to be made to feel like a valued customer.
The hotel was comfortable, room excellent and the staff very attentive and helpful.
I would recommend this hotel for both business and pleasure.
I stayed on business for only one night and would definitely re visit if given the chance.
