“Very relaxing stay”
Reviewed May 17, 2011

Stayed as we were attending a friends wedding near by. Were very accomodating with us dropping our bags off early & arriving back late that night to access the room. Fabulous relaxing location, shame the weather wasn't better so we could of sat outside! Large, comfortable room with everything you need. Great selection @ breakfast, served in a hamper so you can relax and eat in your room. Will stay again & recommend to friends and family.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Ribble Suite with an amazing view

We are writing this whilst staying here. We drove from London and arrived here at 10pm. We had such a lovely warm welcome by Eric and Sarah and Sasha when we arrived. Eric showed us to our lovely room with four poster bed and bathroom with heated flooring and fabulous roll top bath. In the morning we were served a lovely breakfast in a hamper to our room by Eric. I was extremely impressed by the little personal touches in our room, petals on the bed, fresh flowers and petite fours and candles. We were only able to stay for one night which is a great shame. Ladies, you may wish to know that Eric is an award winning hair stylist with his own salon, wish I had known this before hand as we were getting glammed up for my friends
Wedding. We hope to return soon. Thanks for a lovely stay Anna & William.

I used to stay here with the old owners so was slightly worried that people in the reviews were not all happy with the change. I decided to still come and see things for myself...

When I turned up an hour late I received a comment that they weren't sure if I was coming - a bit of a strange thing to say given I've never promised an exact time but I carried on. The gentleman was very kind in offering a lift to get some dinner and I really appreciated the offer here.

I got to the room, thinking everything seemed okay. However, then I entered the bathroom and found a filthy toilet - I mean stained and disgusting. I couldn't get this out of my head the whole stay as the hygiene was then in question for me - if the basics weren't clean then what else hadn't been seen to? The strangest part of this is that the cleaning lady was leaving as I arrived - clearly the dog wash had taken priority on this occasion as this was what she was busy with when I arrived.

The wi-fi didn't work -I'm not sure why, not a huge issue but a bit annoying. Other than that just to point out that the room with a bath just has an attachment style shower - so no quick getaways. You'll also find some rather strange info about the owners other business in the room (I've no idea of the relevance as there isn't an offer for in-room treatments and it's not local but still). This was made more weird by some example facial hair removal and other choice photos - just what I wanted to see before my dinner!

Overall I don't think I can return here mainly due to the hygiene problem. Such a shame - I really loved this place, it's gorgeous!!

I love the Barn- it's not a treat for me and my partner a few times per year. We knew it before the new owners, and we have experiences it now after the changeover, and it hasn't faltered in it's perfection. I love the best the most, as well as the view in the morning, and tea (weather permitting) on the little private patio.

The only negative thing I could say about our last experience is that, yes me and my partner are quite a young couple (23 and 24), not that this should make a difference, but we couldn't help feeling a little patronised when we were told to "watch we don't get food on the carpet" as if we were reckless teenagers, along with a few other comments that I couldn't help feeling a slightly older-looking couple probably wouldn't have experienced.

Aside from that, the gentleman was lovely and couldn't do enough for us.

From start to finish our experience of RiversideBarn couldn't have been better. The room was beautiful and full of lovely thoughtful touches. Big mug of tea on arrival, plate of biscuits and chocolates, bowl of fruit and complementary water chilling in a cooler. The four poster bed covered in luxurious cushions was wonderful to lounge on and a short hop through the double doors was the large roll top bath, double sinks and underfloor heating.
The area is great too, the river ribble lies just out side the door (literally in the case of the other room) and the area is not short of great eateries.
The staff and owners were very friendly, without being obtrusive. The only down side, as other reviews mentioned, is the early breakfast time (8am) as it turned out the generosity of the breakfast hamper did go a long way towards mitigating this.
I was nervous after reading some bad reviews on here and went expecting a flawed operation but to be honest I couldn't find any problems, the owners seem to have anticipated every thing you could desire in an overnight stay. We're going back!
