“Handy budget hotel”
Reviewed May 18, 2013

Thought we'd give the Legacy Preston International hotel a try, a chain we'd never used before.
Very easy to find - although I'm from Preston so knew where it was!! - and more importantly, with a free car park!! We could have stayed at the Premier Inn, but there's no parking on site there.
The hotel is just a short walk from Preston city centre, so handy for the railway station as well as the nightlife.
Checking in was easy enough - we'd already pre-paid on an advance deal, so just had to sign on the line. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Our room was on the first floor - not much of a view but then that's a city centre hotel for you. I presume the upper floors had a better view, though we didn't venture up to look.
The room was as you'd expect for a budget hotel - not massive, but a perfectly comfortable size with a nice modern feel; plenty of lighting control, new flat screen TV, and a good sized bed with fresh linen. To be honest - it was better than I expected for the price!
The en suite bathroom was compact, but had a bath and a nice powerful shower - you needed the curtain drawing!! Again a simple modern design to the suite. And complementary toiletries - haven't seen those for a while, I think hotels are cutting back!!
The room was very clean with plenty of towels, and the usual selection of tea and coffee facilities. An iron and board, and a hairdryer, usual fodder.
Just a couple of very minor issues re maintenance - a cracked lightshade, though you could only see it if the light was off! And a small chip off one of the bedside shelves, but really nothing to mar the stay.
Breakfast was served in the basement room - the simple but modern theme was carried on here too. We were free to sit anywhere, there was plenty of choice - the room wasn't overly large, but comfirtably accommodated all the guests, and there is additional room in the restaurant. Breakfast was buffet style with cereal and fruit; it was ample, although the bacon ran out quickly! Choice was standard but the food was good.
Checking out was again a straightforward process.
Overall a very comfortable stay - despite being near the city centre, noise wasn't an issue. For the price we paid, I think this was a bargain! You're never sure when you use a new chain, but I'd have no objection to staying here again

Room Tip: Upper floors may offer better views of the city

If you are unfamiliar with the area, the location of this hotel is a little isolated. That said, if you're visiting to attend a graduation ceremony at the nearby hotel, then that "problem" becomes a major advantage.

The hotel itself is great. It was approximately £14 cheaper than the nearest Premier Inn, but came with a free breakfast too, which though admittedly average, was hugely appreciated.

The room has all of the extras that a lot of hotels lack. Ironing board and Iron, hairdryer, safe, tea and coffee making facilities. Great bed too.

There is lift access to all floors as far as I'm aware. It goes right down to the restaurant in the basement, which I imagine is good for wheelchair users :)

The hotel is very clean and the staff are lovely. All in all it felt like I'd spent a lot more than £55.

Room Tip: As the entrance is close to the road outside, you may wish to ask for a room on the 2nd floor and up...

The staff were friendly and keen to help. The room was very clean and the bed comfy. The breakfast was good and had something that should suit almost every taste. I would recommend to anyone as provides good value for money and is easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. Cannot review care bar as not used at night, prices too high.

We stayed here in February with friends and this our third time we have met them at the hotel. As usual beautifully clean rooms very helpful staff even opening our wine bottles for us (we forgot a corkscrew) and the wine not bought at the hotel . The breakfast was again as tasty as ever and we never feel rushed although the restaurant was very busy.

The room is a great size. Tea and coffee facilities in the room are brands that you love, not cheap alternatives. The place is spotlessly clean as are the rooms. The bathroom was immaculate and I had no reservations about having a nice relaxing bath. The food was really tasty with no extra charge for bringing it to the room. The staff are the nicest I have come across - nothing is too much trouble (that's if you have to ask for anything as they've covered most things already). Stayed in a 5* hotel the same week costing almost four times as much and it was nowhere near as good.

Check in was easy and the receptionist was very polite and helpful, even called us a cab for later that evening. The rooms are clean and spacious enough with a good bathroom with a lovely strong shower. There was no hairdryer in the room but 1 call to reception and it was there in less than 5 minutes.Great value for a stop over on a night out. We will definitely stay again.
