“Best park in the area!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2012

Where do I start, Elmdon is vast and a great family trip out, also good for dog walking and keeping fit! There is a lovely large lake to walk round or sit on one of the many benches and on a Sunday from 3 oclock you can get cake and tea or coffee up at the church!

“My favourite Park.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2012

Well perhaps Im biased.Spent my childhood sledging down the hills in the snow and playing cricket and football here.

This is a beautiful park. The main car park at the bottom is a bit small but theres plenty of room to park on the roads around, and a larger one at the top accessible off Damson Parkway.

There is a lovely walk around the large lake and along paths with trees overhanging both sides.A lovely little stream runs through. Two smaller wildlife ponds made up of water coming out of a spring near the base of a hill, which have reeds around.Dragon flies dart across in the summer.

There is a fair size childrens play area with slides and swings, and 2 tennis courts in the park also. You can walk up the hills in the park, lined with mature trees, a favourite location for conker collectors under numerous horse chesnut trees.

One of the oldest trees in England is found halfway up the slopes, still just about keeping going. At the top of the hill nestled amongst the trees the lovely Church of Elmdon with its quaint graveyard.

Nuthatches,Tree creepers,Thrushes and many other birds including little owls frequent this park. As do other animals such as rabbits now, foxes, woodmice, vowles, squirrels to name a few.

Behind the Church at the top of the hill, turn to your right along a narrow tree lined road and you come to some lovely ponds, and a wonderful walled secret garden behind with many different plants and trees, and an old orchard.

It also makes an ideal location for keeping fit, with a number of pieces of equipment dotted around for this. Also good for runners either around the ground level circuits or up some steepish hills.

Behind the church is a pathway that decends onto the A45 Coventry Road by the airport cargo terminal.

Another path from the side of Land Rover on Lode Lane makes its way into the park. However be warned, its a long walk which follows the vast Land Rover car parks to your right.

Whether its just a stroll, longer walk, family outing to feed the ducks and swans, visiting churches, or just to play sport, this lovely park has it all.

“Big open space.”

A large grassed area with a stream running through the middle. A secure childrens play area completes the scene.
