Village Hotel Solihull

Reviewed October 11, 2009

We stopped at the brand new Village hotel (only three days old). So everything was immaculate and the staff were well trained and polite. The previous review was a bit harsh and the only comment I could agree with was noisy room doors. They obviously need to tweak the door springs, as our room door didn't slam shut but the room next to us did. We managed to turn off the air con and open the window. We booked through laterooms for a discounted price of £49 which included breakfast for us both. Breakfast was very good hot and cold selection. The gym had all modern latest equipment and the pool looked good. The room was modern with comfy bed, ipod/iphone charger, large flatscreen tv. Good location for the NEC we would definitely stop here again. (only negatives would be door slaming, and needs a larger pillow selection as they were massive).

All of the guest room doors loudly banged shut which kept me from falling asleep. The lift did not work on arrival. The Ventilation made horrendous noise all night in the room, I took out my room key to see if the noise would stop but it did not. The room controls were positioned in such a dark space that you could not see what to do. There is no space to put your suitcase(s). The towel rail was positioned the other side of the room away from the shower and wash basin, there was nothing on the walls to indicate which floor you were on and the room numbers, there was no information at all in the bedrooms regarding how to use facilities such as heating and TV etc.,
The Good Points, The staff were excellent, the evening meal was good (a bit to expensive) the breakfast ok - the bacon and sausage was cold. All of these things hopefully will be addressed quickly.
