“needs updating”
Reviewed August 11, 2013

Visited on a busy Saturday night, we were asked to wait with a drink in the bar area, there was a small wooden table and 4 chairs, not very comfortable, think it would be nice to have a small sofa and drinks table instead, much more comfortable, and appealing, cannot fault the excellent food, fab wine list and liqueurs, brandy's etc, service was polite and efficient. I do however, feel that if you are offering an al a carte menu there should be tablecloths and real napkins on the table, the whole restaurant lacks ambiance, the furniture is more akin to a cafe', with no candles and or flowers, which really lets it down, the piped music was mix of 80's chart hits, not appropriate in my opinion. The outside space is much more up to date and a real gem, if the weather is fine. Such as shame as there are very few real English restaurants in the area, but the overall experience, apart from the food, was not overwhelming,

“Lovely Garden Lunch”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

We were driving home after shopping in Solihull and we kept saying we would try Longfellows so I parked up and we went into the restaurant garden to be greeted by a very pleasant lady who made us feel really welcome. We had two glasses of Iced Cidre whilst we checked out the menu.

We started with Minted Water Melon followed by the Fresh Crab Salad for my wife and I opted for the Steak, both absolutley delicious. The bill was also a pleasant surprise, I'm sure we will be going back pretty soon.

“Tapas evening......excellent”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

Having had seen the "tapas" evening advertised locally we decided to see what it was like. The half price cava swayed the deal!!
We were a group of 5 ladies. The selection of food was varied, but we opted for seafood mostly. All excellent portions and enough for the 5. The atmosphere was lovely. The majority of diners were sitting outside, but as we required a table at a later time we were seated inside, which was not an issue. There was no rush to leave, and we finally left gone 11. Excellent value for money. Under £20 a person with wine. If you are looking for a relaxed evening is a small environment, this restaurant is a gem of a find.
We will definitely be returning.

“Lovely Mediterranean feel and good food.”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

To take advantage of this lovely weather, we sat in the garden at the rear. We could have been on our hols. The atmosphere was really lovely. The menu is simple to understand, £20 for 2 courses, £25 for three. No extra charge for this or that. Good size starter, fresh veg with the main, yummy desserts. Have been here before, but not for a while. Will definitely go agin in the near future.

“Secret garden, beautiful evening”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

I reserved a table here for my best friend's birthday as a surprise & we had a wonderful evening at Longfellows. The service was quick and good. We had the pink prosecco & a gorgeous bottle of Red. A real homely feel to the place. So nice to find a restaurant that isn't a chain! The lamb was cooked to perfection & the salad and veg was not your average portions nor styles. Salad was complete with olives & veg was Ratatouille. We chooses out in the relaxing area at back of garden after our meal & enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere & pretty surroundings of the garden. Not pretentious but homely & cute. Defo recommend for home-cooked food in a cute garden.
