“Nice picture, pity about the reality.”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

Booked for two nights here whilst visiting NEC for Crufts. Small room, uncomfortable bed, noisy from traffic, other residents and airplanes, iron burn marks on carpet, shower bracket broken. Restaurant is Indian food with a few English bits added, but not on the evening we were there. The staff were mainly very nice and helpful, apart from the man on reception, who barely uttered a word. The overall hotel needs a lot spending on it, especially the hole in the restaurant ceiling covered with tape. Very basic indeed would not choose to stay here.

We stayed at this hotel for one night whilst going to a show at the NEC. Arrived about 5pm, person on reception did not speak we had to say that we had booked a room. Was asked to complete a registration card and whilst I was doing this the receptionist processed payment. There was a problem with doing this because someone was using the telephone so we had to wait 5 minutes.

The receptionist showed us to our room and when she put on the light her comment was that there was no lampshade, gave us the room key then walked out. A brief resume of the faults were as follows:No plug in washbasin, torn bath towels (no hand towels), no soap, dirty toilet seat, very dirty tooth mug, dirty bathroom mirror, bedroom windowsills were dirty, dirty scuff marks on walls. The whole room needed completely redecorating and the bathroom needed a complete overall

We took the tooth mug and towels to reception and mentioned the wash basin plug. Were given better towels, a clean tooth mug and a plug (with no chain). Difficult to take a plug out without a chain!!

We had booked in for bed & breakfast but decided that if a room could not be cleaned properly, then what chance was there of other parts of the hotel being clean.

Don't go there

I stayed at the hotel for one night with my daughter to go to the Horse of the Year show, it was very convenient for the NEC only 5mins in the car. We were very worried after reading some of the other reviews, as we booked last minute. However, the room was clean as was the bed linen and towels. The bathroom was clean, but needed updating or a least the grout replaced. There was capet in the bathroom, which smelled slightly, but it was clean and useable. The saving grace for this hotel was the staff, the ower and his wife were lovely and so helpful. We did not think breakfast was included, and the owners wife knocked on the door of our room to tell us, which was very nice. There is a car park which was also useful. Be aware that getting to the car park is not off the main A45 you drive past the hotel and go round the back. The hotel is so close to the airport that we felt like we were on the runway, so don't expect good quality sleep. Finally the TV did not work.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the back of the hotel it is slightly quieter than the front. Also you can get acce...

It seems that this place is close to tha airport and local attractions such as NEC and Motorcycle museum.

We were greeted by a friendy receptionist who escorted us to our room which we found to be a little tired but acceptable and seemingly clean.

First of all we complained that the TV in the room didn't work but whilst we were out a brand new TV was installed and we were able to enjoy a comfortable evening in watching our favourite shows.

A downside to the above was that there was a couple with a young child in the room adjoining ours and it seems the child was allowed to run around stomping like a baby elephant and constantly squealing until after 9.00pm which we adressed by turning the TV volume up.

Later we discovered that the bed was not very comfortable and I managed at the most a couple of hours sleep having been supplied with just one pillow each that were very hard and not very thick and endsed up trying to place it on it's side to get some support for my head, also the head board on the bed was flapping against the wall and every time one of us turned over it banged against the wall.

We felt that the management need to address a problem on the upper corridors that smelt of what we presumed to be stale cigarette smoke and we have seen this mentioned in other reviews so maybe a lick of fresh paint and or having the carpets cleaned may fix this.

Although we didn't eat at the restaurant we did have continental breakfast incuded in our booking and were impressed by the decor and presentation of the restaurant with Tea, Coffee, Fruit,Juice,Cereal and Croissants. We were greeted by a very nice gentleman at and asked if we would also like Eggs Beans and Toast.

Although on a main road and the close proximity to the airport were were not at all disturbed by the noise of vehicles or planes in any way.

We found everyone very friendy and polite and would use the place again if in the area.

Final note is that the hotel is not at the Damson Parkway end of Old Damson lane that Google shows it but at the end that exits on to the A45 Coventry road and when wet can be very muddy.

The hotel was very nice and clean. My partner and i had no problems with anything during our stay. We arrived very late and there was still someone present at reception who was happy to greet us. He showed us to our room and then offered us drinks and asked if there was anything he could do. Perfect. As we came down for breakfast (of which you can specify your own time) we were greeted at the entrance to the breakfast hall and asked what we would like which was just great! All in all i really enjoyed my stay and would visit again.
