On our arrival we waited at the Reception for over 5 minutes befiore anyone came.We were shown to our room by the lady who was also running the Bar!. We had asked for as room suitable for disabled but were told there isnt any, but we were given a ground floor room in the annex. This was very pleasant and clean. We arrived in ther afternoon having travelled for over 3 hours. We decided to have a Sunday lunch even though it was 5.30pm. This was a mistake as the meat was overcooked and the roast pototoes burnt, we complained but we were not offered an alternative.. We decided to eat elsewhere on our second evening. The breakfast was very good as it is at all Old English Inns.Would I stay there again? Yes but would not have meals other than Breakfast.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back as the Abbey Bells are not as loud.

I visit Tewkesbury occasionally on business, and we usually stay at the Bell Hotel. It is chosen mostly for location, being very central to the town and easy to get to most amenities. The hotel itself is more average than anything, and lacks a lot of the services you get from hotels in larger towns and cities. However the hotel building is very nice and something of a monument in Tewkesbury: most people in town spoke very highly of it.

It is, however, quite expensive for a lot of visitors so I couldn't particularly recommend the hotel for large groups or families.

My partner and I stayed here on a special deal and we were delighted with our stay. The room was cosy, the service good, and the food was excellent, especially the breakfast. However, the constant ringing of the Tewskesbury Abbey bells next door can be a bit much but that is not the fault of this nice establishment. Also, our car was vandalised but again that is not the fault of the hotel.

We will certainly stay again.

Paying £120 a night for B&B you have some expectations.....and they weren't met. The rooms are ok but lack any soundproofing. The towels don't get changed or even moved from where you leave them in the morning. This place calls itself a hotel but won't serve residents a drink at 11.15pm even though the bar staff are still there. It's part of Greene King's inn portfolio and does nothing for their brand......(compared to say a Premier Inn or Travelodge).......all that said, to be fair, the breakfast was better than average.....

We too stayed on a special deal of £14.95 pppn and felt we had a luxury break at a bargain basement price. Friendly, efficient staff, excellent breakfast, the beautifully arranged smoked salmon was lovely, and a room in the actual hotel full of character. Yes the floorboards squeaked and the windows didnt close properly but it was worth it to stay in such a lovely place right opposite the Abbey.

Stayed for two nights on a special deal. £14.95p.p. per night bed and breakfast.
Lovely old hotel, right opposite the Abbey.Lovely bedroom wih ensuite. Great breakfast, and excellent bar meals at the right prices.
Lovely helpful, smiley staff. Wonderful value. Look out for the Olde English Hotels deals, Having read some of the other reviews, think its rather unfair to critisize the rooms, it is a very old hotel, which for me adds charm.
