“Secret Garden”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

We enjoyed our visit to the John Moore Museum in Tewkesbury. The museum is housed in a lovely row of medieval cottages on the main street. One house holds an interesting collection of local natural history exhibits. Another house has been restored to show how a merchant and his family would have lived and worked in medieval times. We especially enjoyed the secret garden which backs onto the Abbey. Staff were friendly and at just £3 for entry it was good value.

“Great small museum”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

This is a small museum housed within a row of refurbished medieval cottages. It concentrates mainly on natural history due to its founder, John Moore being a writer and environmentalist, but the adjoining property is 'The Merchant's House' where you can experience how a medieval merchant and his family would have lived. You can also take a guided tour of the redeveloped (from 3 cottages) Baptist Chapel across the road. WE spent a very interesting afternoon here and the staff are excellent and very knowledgeable.

Interesting, but not suitable for those with walking difficulties since there are very steep stairs.
