“Little touches make this place special”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 26, 2012

As you walk into Theoc House you are immediately struck by the ambience and surroundings. There are bookcases full of books and toys/games. The downstairs room is long and set out with tables, chairs and settees giving a lovely feeling of casualness which is very welcoming. We had a range of tapas which were lovely, except for the fishcakes which were more like soggy breadcome covered mashed potato with a hint of fish. The coffee was fantastic, one of the best coffees I have ever tasted. The service was wonderful. One thing I loved was that they even supplied reading glasses in the recipe holders on the wall - what a brilliant idea, well done.

Will we visit again, definately.

“A great find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2012

Everything one could ask of a cafe bar - early morning until late night opening, a range of coffee and tea, real local ales, a menu to fit most tastes, delightful staff and a warm and inviting atmosphere. It's a 'We shall come back' place - perhaps to enjoy a quiz or jazz night.

“My kinda hang....”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 16, 2012

We accidentally (don't ask) arrived in Tewkesbury a little bit too ahead of time for what we had booked to see at The Roses and were looking around for somewhere where we could sit out of the rain with a drink and maybe have something to eat before we moved on (the trouble being that a lot of places don't like you nursing a glass of coke for an hour and a half, understandably!)

But then this place hoved into view and honestly it might as well have had signs up saying 'Sit here with a drink for as long as you like, eat later on if you're hungry....' because it was just ideal! Loads of comfy chairs, books, newspapers, full range of drinks, snacks and an extensive menu.

When we did finally eat we went for the tapas which were inventive and delicious and then decided we had room for the cheese plate (him) and the chocolate mousse (me) which was not one scintilla short of sensational. All in decent sized portions and extremely reasonable prices.

On the way out I saw someone embarking on the steak and ale pie...it's incredibly bad mannered but I am afraid I gaped open mouthed...if it tastes half as good as it looks it must be unbelievable. I will be back for that one.

Just one tiny little (non) gripe-ette. This looks like it is a very child friendly place (games, high chairs and nutritious menu) which obviously in the scheme of things is a point in its favour, but if you are looking for a quiet romantic little venue this may not be it, and given that children may well feel empowered to move around lots in such a friendly space there could be some health and safety issues as drinks/food are being carried about. But that's it really.

We live about 50 mins away but I would most certainly plan to come here again with or without a theatre ticket!

“Great for a break from cycling”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 16, 2012

The atmosphere was relaxing and the food was lovely, we had falafel burger and the BLT. After the cycle from Gloucester this was a great place to choose randomly, i'd recommend it to anyone, good value and great choice.

“Nice upmarket pub/cafe”

Nice pub near cross in centre of Tewkesbury. Real ales, extensive coffee range, snacks (including lovely cakes) and nice meals. There is a book case so you can have a nice read whilst drinking and eating
