We stayed at the Tewksbury Park Hotel as our daughter was getting married in a nearby village. The hotel was beautiful and clean. the rooms are a bit corporate but they have beautiful views of the Malverns. The lounges are lovely, small idividual ones and are very comfortable. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful scenery and there are lovely terraces to sit out on and admire the view.We were not there for the golf but it seemed as if most people were. It has excellent facilities. The breakfasts were delicious and food is locally sourced. We didn't eat in in the evening as we were out most of the time due to the wedding. We did have a bar snack of pizzas one night in one of the small lounges which was delicious. The staff in the main are very friendly and helpful with the exception of one individual, the breakfast supervisor. He was very lofty in manner and had a superior air about him, he was not very helpful at all. However I must single out Clare/Clair who was serving in the breakfast room. She was the brightest most cheerful person there, going out of her way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible, so friendly and courteous, nothing was too much trouble, I can't praise her enough. If only everyone had her attitude the world would be a better place.
One thing we should point out, there are lots of long corridors and stairs and it is hard to find your way around. Most people we met were having the same problem. It should be mentioned when you book about the stairs. We were fine but our friend had a bad knee and found it difficult as they were on the third floor. There are gound floor bedrooms but even so you still have to go up and down stairs to the dining room and lounges. It is like a rabbit warren. However we had a very enjoyable stay and would go back.

Room tip: Ground floor rooms if you have difficulty with stairs..

Thank you for your review and we were all pleased that you had a great time and hope that your daughter's big day was a roaring success too. Clare will be delighted that you singled her out for mention and like so many of the team here, they're able to genuinely be themselves and offer their tips and advice to our guests, which makes a stay truly memorable.

We look forward to welcoming you again and do keep an eye on our offers pages of our website for your next visit to Tewkesbury Park.

With many thanks

Thank you for your review and we're delighted you had a wonderful weekend break. Of late, the hotel has been extremely busy and this can show one or two areas where we need to make minor adjustments to the set-up we designed. We'll be having a look at how we can make improvements to the toaster area and our Director is exploring the idea of a replacement for our butcher's block to release a bit more space and this may assist with live-cookery at our new Sunday brunch too.

We look forward to seeing you again and thank you for the tip.

Best wishes

Held my Birthday party in the Berkeley suite with a BBQ outside. I cannot fault the service we had from both the lady who looked after us all afternoon and the young man behind the bar. We had a great day and everyone, without exception, enjoyed the afternoon’s festivities. Thank you to the staff who made our day.

Thank you for your review and we're all delighted that you have a wonderful time at Tewkesbury Park and enjoyed the superb Berkeley Bar and Terrace with its wood-fired pizza oven and jerk barbecue bar.

The staff work super hard to look after our guests and it gives us all a great boost to read that these efforts are noted.

With many thanks

We recently spent a couple of nights here with our two dogs. The hotel came very highly recommended by our friend who came along with us. So with such glowing recommendations it was inevitable that things would go wrong, and indeed they did. We booked a dog friendly room, and our friend a de-luxe room, when we booked in we were initially given a standard room with no dog facilities, and our friend a standard room with dog facilities ( she doesn’t have a dog). It took some time to sort out, and we had to move the dog beds down the corridor ourselves.
We had booked half board, but the restaurant that evening was in melt down, with any semblance of service non existent. It took over a half an hour to take our order, and almost an hour from sitting down before our starters arrived. After two hours we had just finished our mains and gave up on the desserts and coffee which we had paid for. The next evening normal service was resumed, and I must say that it was very good. But unfortunately a waiter spilt a pint of beer over me. These things can happen anywhere, and the waiter and restaurant manager were effusive in their apologies, and immediately offered to pay for the clothes to be dry cleaned, and gave us each a complimentary glass of champagne. Accidents happen, but we were impressed at how efficiently the hotel staff dealt with it.
We didn’t get a very good nights sleep, there as a strange swishing noise, which we thought was coming from the room next door, but it was the emergency exit, which was left open all night. So not only was there a noise issue, but anyone could have gained access to the hotel, so there was a serious breach of security.
Finally when we checked in we had to provide a credit card, what we didn’t realise is that the hotel immediately took out £394. When we checked out the bill came to around £500, but the hotel did not deduct the £394 already paid from this bill. So it wasn’t until we got home that we found out that the hotel had taken over£900 from our account. There was also an item for£51 on the bill that couldn’t be accounted for. We rang they hotel, and again were most apologetic, and arranged to credit our account with the money they had taken in error, which they did. But I’m not sure what would have happened if we hadn’t checked our account.
Would we go back again, possibly. The hotel is in a lovely location with stunning views, from the public area, and bedrooms. It is genuinely dog friendly, our bedroom, had a patio door which lead directly onto the park so was ideal for early morning walks. The hotel allows dogs in certain areas but not others, so there are plenty of choices for both dog lovers and dog sceptics. The food in the restaurant is very good, and the breakfasts excellent, the coffee is good, ( I am always surprised that even top quality hotels often serve bad coffee at breakfast, but not here).
With our experience I can’t say I would recommend this hotel, but I think we were just really unlucky with our stay, hopefully if you do decide to visit, you get to enjoy all the positives and manage to avoid the negatives.

Thank you for your review and I am so sorry that, despite the recommendation, you felt that your stay was disappointing and left you feeling short-changed. Your feedback is very constructive and I thank you for both giving me the opportunity to respond and suggesting that you will return to Tewkesbury Park. We understand that things sometimes go wrong and when they do, we need to acknowledge our deficiencies and work hard to improve.

I have looked into the points you raised and in such a public forum won't go into too much detail, particularly with regard to the financial elements. However, it is worth saying that the pre-authorisation process, by which, upon check-in our business effectively 'reserves' a value of funds against a credit card account ready for payment at the end of a guest's stay, is often misunderstood. It is not an actual payment but the credit card/bank providers have begun to show this in statements. Unless it is "completed" i.e. the reservation of funds is released against an actual payment, the credit card/bank provider can sometimes take up to 10 days to release theses available funds back to a credit card for any further purchases. I can confirm that we only charged the amounts which were stated on your invoice at check-out, although you are correct that a subsequent refund of £51 was credited, for which I am very sorry it was charged in the first instance.

I have discussed the efficiencies of managing reservation details with the team in sales and on reception, so that if and when we need to sort out any problems for our guests, these are done seamlessly and certainly not leaving a guest to arrange themselves.

I hope that you'll return to Tewkesbury Park and we'll give a far better account of ourselves and demonstrate much higher standards.

With many thanks and best wishes

Spent four nights here. The ideal base for our excursions to Hereford,Worcester and Gloucester and several National Trust properties. Breathtaking setting, immaculate room, excellent buffet breakfast and dinners and pleasant, friendly and helpful staff. Cannot speak more higly of this establishment and thoroughly recommend it. By the way we are not golfers but it mattered not a jot.

Thank you for your review and we're all delighted that you had a perfect visit to Tewkesbury Park and were able to enjoy the huge array of attractions to visit locally. We're a broad church and we welcome everyone. In fact, although our golf course is highly visible to the site, it doesn't constitute the majority of our business, so we're able to provide something for all of our guests - those visiting on short breaks, staying for weddings, meeting for business purposes and to celebrate family and group events, as well as those for golf breaks too.

We hope that you'll come again to explore this wonderful part of England some more.

Best wishes
