Good food and cheap drinks is what you expect from Weatherspoons. I was cycling NCR 45 with some friends and we stopped for the night. For us, it was just right. Comfy beds, good size rooms, great service and all the usual Weatherspoons stuff.

It's a Wetherspoons, so expect the expected! Big old building with outside seating area (can't comment on the hotel), usual selection of beers and guest ales for a JDW which were of good standard. I visited Thursday lunchtime on my way back up to Sheffield and it was Indian day. Now I love "traditional" Indian food and most of the curries here are a bit "glooky" as though they have been thickened with cornflower or xanthan, pretty standard "pub" curries. However, the Chicken Vindaloo is an exception, it is very, very, very hot and actually tastes very much like a "traditional" Southern Indian vindaloo. All Indian restaurants I have visited make a pathetic attempt at vindaloo by simply adding chilli powder to their standard curry tomato base sauce.
If you want to sample a traditional Vindaloo you have 3 options:-

1. Visit Southern India
2. Make one yourself
3. Try one in Wetherspoons

Includes a pint of real ale for £6.77, worth a try.

A well refurbished hotel, its an old building so some steep stairs in places, but that provides some character. Its a Wetherspoons so you know what to expect from food and drink. Good value, clean room and would stay again.

This place is perfect, price, location, cleanliness, it dose exactly what is says on the tin. Room was small but immaculate (for £64 who can complain). The food was very good (2 meals £10 inc a drink) at lunchtime. The staff friendly and really helpful. We had room overlooking gardens but didn't have any problem with noise. And full English was only £2.99 bargain!!!!! Would definately stay here again and would try other Wearherspoon hotels after this experience. Try Theoc House for dinner the food is just lovely.
