“Probably the worst service ever!!”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

Vistied this restaurant on Sat with a party of 10 thats it thats as good as it got. The manager had a face like thunder and looked extremely ratty by the mere fact he had customers they seemed to be an irritation to him. We ordered drinks and had to ask more than once for jugs of water. The place was extremely loud that doesnt bother me usually but this was VERY loud. It was extremely hot, yes its summer but the restaurant had about 5 air con units that we could see but none of them being used. So coupled with the overpowering smell of cooking its was like a sauna. The Calazone was ok but the pasta dishes most people left saying it was tastless and covered in over thick cream that had set. I wouldnt rush back thats for sure.

“Watford's best Italian”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

L'artista in Watford is the perfect place to go if you want a real flavour of Italian food. Whilst endless restaurants serve pasta and pizza, L'artista serves Italian food as if you were in Italy itself.

I have been dining here for years - with family, friends and more recently my boyfriend. Whether it is bursting with people or you're having coffee on a quiet weekday, L'artista always has a lovely atmosphere. The staff are welcoming and efficient, and although the restaurant itself isn't incredibly stylish, everything else makes this irrelevant.

All dishes are an affordable price, with the majority of pizzas and pasta dishes under £10. If you are stuck between pasta and pizza, I'd recommend the tomato garlic bread starter and pasta for your main course, meaning you get the best of both worlds. (The tomato garlic bread is pretty much a mini pizza.)

To put things into perspective, my Italian boyfriend thinks his family's home cooking has met its match with the food at L'artista.

“If only it had flavour”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

The building for some reason is insanely noises regardless if qty of guests. Ordered the pasta, the food is very very bland, pasta seems to just have creme over it. We were a party of 10 and everyone was constantly adding salt to their dishes. The pizzas are ok, but the pasta dishes are very very poor. What appears to be the manager seemed constantly irritated, no customer service what so ever, and was miserable as sin. I will not be coming back here EVER

“Great pizza, good service and lively atmoshere”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

Enjoyed pizzas here on a Saturday night. We hadn't booked but they were quick to find us a table and to appear with drinks. Enjoyed tomato garlic bread to start and then and various pizza. All were freshly cooked and full of flavour. The portions were really generous so we were pleased to be offered boxes to take the remains home. L'Artisa is well worth the visit and I would certainly make a return trip.

“Just what you need.”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

Although the atmosphere or environment didn't strike me as anything special L'artista has a straightforward quality menu, helpful prompt service and good value. I ate a very nice four cheese sauce, the gnocchi was perfectly al dente and the portion was large enough to satisfy me (& two friends polished off the remainder!) after a sunny festival jaunt.

If I'm ever in the area again, I'll make the opportunity to eat something else there, even if it's to validate this review - keep it up!
