“Great value for your money”

Three different stays in in one month, as we were moving to Watford and needed a place to stay until our stuff arrived. Fantastic location near Watford Junction station, the High Street shops, Intu shopping centre and other amenities. Besides, the bus from Heathrow airport stops right in front of the hotel, which is convenient if you are travelling with bulky luggage.

Every time we were given a different room, but all of them were spacious, comfortable and reasonably clean, if a bit basic (just as expected, this is not a luxury hotel). Breakfast was good and varied, and the food at the bar was also fine (we did not use the restaurant). But the best was the staff, they were always friendly and helpful, specially when I lost a wallet with personal documents and they managed to find it. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed here as it was convenient for our needs – we were a party of 7 visiting the Harry Potter studios. Only a 10mins walk to bus/train station.

Staff were friendly and welcoming. Rooms were clean and spacious. Breakfast was great – a good selection of food.

Only negative is that our rooms were amongst a much larger party and seemed to be inconsiderate of other guests who seemed to be shouting/singing and knocking on very room door.

Good location, 10 mins stroll from station.
You know what you are getting from a Jury's.
Only special thing I can say was thanks to the lad who got us a drink from bar when we finished work at 2am, even though it was closed.
Breakfast was pretty good.

I rang the hotel to check directions from central London and was given helpful and accurate advice from James on reception, who checked me later that day.
Room was spotless.
James ( a different one!!) in the bar was friendly and I noticed he remembered a regular customer's drink ( a bonus as a business traveller).
The whole hotel was friendly and well kept and every member of staff was friendly and approachable. Excellent, I will stay her again.

I stayed at for 3 nights on business in June. First impressions are that the reception, bar and restaurant area are modern and contemporary, shame the same couldn't be said about the rooms. I booked a superior room and was disappointed to find that it was superior as there was sparkling and still water (with one glass) and there was an iron and an ironing board. The room was large, the bed an excellent size, comfortable too, but what let it down was the lack of voile on the windows; the curtains had to be closed to receive any type of privacy and the bathroom needs an update. I would expect that a superior room should have something extra to the standard rooms and that extra should not be a bottle of £1 water and an iron!
Dinner was taken in the restaurant. The set menu is a good price at £16.95 for 2 courses although you do have to pay extra for steak taking the cost to a minimum of £22.95. I ate in the restaurant each night. The mussels for starters were lovely with just the right amount of garlic and the bread well toasted, the second night of having them was a let down, too creamy and not a great deal of other flavour. Dissapointing as they were so nice on the first night. The main was steak, presented very well but 2 things let it down. 1) a rocket and Parmesan salad was not served with shavings of cheese but with a sprinkle of the 90's shake Parmesan and at £3 for a small bowl pricey. 2) I ordered medium rare steak, it came medium to well. I ask for it to be changed and they took the steak off my plate and arranged for the staff to cook it whilst I ate the salad and chips (yummy btw). The steak when it did arrive was very well cooked but was let down by the fact I had to eat it on its own as they didn't take the whole dish away. They did however apologise for the steak not being cooked to my liking at the offset.
The second night mains were a seafood linguine. Made with the same sauce as the mussels? Bland, too creamy and not a lot else. Would have benefitted from chilli and garlic and perhaps a few squirts of lemon to bring the dish alive. The salmon was well cooked and presented well.
The service was much better on the second night.
The one thing that lets this hotel down is the price of the drinks. £15 for 2 drinks with a mixer. Doubles yes but due to the amount of ice added the contents could have been consumed in 4 gulps. Very expensive.
Overall this hotel is okay. Service changeable, food changeable, bathrooms in need of a renovation.
I'm back in the hotel next week so will report my findings. Hope you found this review useful.

Dear Wilkco32,

Thank you for your thorough review of your recent stay here at Jurys Inn Watford and in particular your constructive feedback concerning our Restaurant and food.

The rooms within the Hotel are all of a similar standard – the upgrade you availed of during your stay was to our Superior Package, and not a Superior Room. The Superior Package offers discount on Food & Beverage, complimentary WiFI, Complimentary Newspaper and water and can be added by any guest, at any time, to the room rate they are on; I apologise if you believed this to infer that the Room was a Superior one.

I have discussed your comments with the Head Chef who is looking forward to your next visit to the Hotel, if there are any special request he can assist you with when you are dining with us please make a request with one of the waiting Team and he will be delighted to discuss these with you. He has held a meeting with his Team to ensure consistency is a focus over the coming weeks in an attempt to ensure that we continue our improvements in this area.

A similar meeting has been held with our Bar/Restaurant Team and, whilst they are still relatively new to the industry, the importance of consistent and polite service has been stressed to ensure that are able to provide a suitable level of service for all of our future guests.

If there is anything else I can assist you with please do not hesitate to contact me direct and we trust you have an enjoyable stay with us on your next visit to Watford.

Kind regards,

Andy

We stayed over last weekend at the Jury's Hotel as we booked with Superbreak so we could visit Harry Potters Studio Tour. The hotel rooms are clean and nicely decorated but the hotel is being let down by the food and bar prices and lack of staff/service. We decided to eat in the bar for tea and when we got to the bar there wasn't anyone there to serve us for drinks or to take our food order and eventually someone came ten minutes after even though there were quite a few people in the bar at the time. The food itself was expensive for what you got i.e. the burger was nice but had no cheese on as we requested when we ordered as an extra topping and you could count the chips in a very tiny bucket on one hand. They did take the burgers back to put the cheese on, our burger meal was £9.95 plus extra for any toppings. My son only wanted a bowl of chips and it cost £3.00 and the smallest bowl I have ever seen! We were still hungry after the meal which is not a good sign. We noticed while we were in the bar there were quite a few other complaints for which the Manager had to deal with. The drinks prices were extortionate for bar prices i.e. £7.00 for a double vodka and extra for the tonic on top! We decided we couldn't have afforded another drink there so ventured out into the town and popped to the local Sainsbury's for some drinks in the room. Whilst in the town we noticed there weren't many families about and could understand why as we did see some sights while we were walking round so glad we had stopped in the hotel to eat but quality and quantity let it down and not very good service. The breakfast the next morning had plenty of choice but even though the food was in the hot cabinets it didn't seem to be very warm? Overall nice hotel rooms and ideal location to catch the shuttle bus to the Tour as 5-7mins from the bus stop walk down the road but other services definitely let it down.

Room Tip: We requested a quiet room but didn't get one as the all male party that was in the next room cam...
