3 night stay to visit London and surroundings. Rooms were clean and comfortable, with all the usual en-suite etc, staff were very polite and extremely helpful. Breakfast is ok, continental + 2 cooked items included in the price.

Pro: car parking behind the hotel for £3/24hours. Overground station to London 150 yards away. A limited range of meals available in the evening, but well cooked and served. Free wifi in reception/bar area. Very easy to access from M25.

Cons: car parking limited. Heating in rooms not very effective, but staff quick to deliver extra quilt- room did eventually warm up ok. No room safe.

Room Tip: Room 106, that we stopped in, is just over the bar, so we could still get the wifi signal, without p...

My wife and I stayed here for two nights while visiting our son to help him refurbish his new home. The hotel is well placed for access to North Watford where our son lives. It is also very well placed for Watford Junction rail station - it's just a hundred or so yards walk round the back. The rooms were clean and well designed but the bed, for our taste, was a bit too bouncy and my wife ended up sleeping on the pull out sofa bed. The breakfast is basic but there's lots of it and, unlike many other hotels, is included in the room price, so full marks there. Sometimes breakfast charges can add a chunk of cash on the bill for two people so for two nights we saved a bit which is always nice. The staff were uniformly polite and helpful and book-in and check-out were efficient and quick. We got a good room rate for the two nights we stayed and overall we were really pleased with the whole experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front of the hotel to avoid noise from the railway station.

Firstly, I would like to stay in many hotels across brands and have stayed in few of this brand but never experienced staff like it.

On check in, the guy who checked me in basically took my credit card, I signed the registration card and then gave me the room key. There was no chit chat, no direction to room, breakfast or evening dining location along with times for meals - that was until I prompted him with the questions.

Dinner menu could have been written on a napkin so we went to the pub around the corner. Breakfast was standard Express style - there was staff around but nobody wished us a £good morning" or a basic "hello".

I am not commenting on the room as I have found all Holiday Inn Express rooms are virtually the same which nice, well equiped rooms with all the necessary accessories one may need during their stay along with being very clean. Seems a given.

On checkout the receptionist was a little more alive and chatty then welcomed storing our luggage for the day whilst we visited the Warner Bros Studios for the Harry Potter tour. This hotel is the perfect location for this. On placing our luggage in the hold I had to prompt the girl to use the luggage labels and again when we picked our bags up - she totally disregarded the tags and we ended up picking up our own luggage - very secure not.

Room Tip: Rooms all good. Just when you visit - help the staff do their job because they need all they can get...

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to write your review. I regret that you were not happy with the service on this occassion. I can assure you that since your last stay in September last year there have been many changes in the hotel above all the hotel staff and you can see from the other reviews that the customer service is excellent now. We receive many good compliments daily and I am sorry that 5 months ago we were not able to demonstrate it to you. I hope that you would give us another chance some time in the future to prove you that we can do better.

We stayed in this hotel for one night while visiting friends in Watford. The hotel is about a 3 minute walk from Watford Train Station. The room was very spacious and clean however our room smelt a little of smoke which was strange. I was worried that we would hear the trains as we were so close to the station however it was very quiet. The receoption staff were polite and quick and the hotel is close to the shops and takeaways.

This hotel is literally yards away from the Watford junction station and ideal to access London. Nice clean hotel with no frills bedrooms but comfortable.
The breakfast is basic buffet style with mainly cereals/fruit/yoghurts/croissants/muffins and then theres beans/scrambled egg/sausage - no meats, with as much toast as you can eat.
The car park is situated to the rear of the hotel, but only has about 20 spaces, the time we stayed we couldnt get a space, being a Sunday night I just parked where i could, but during the day I needed to move the car to avoid being nicked so I asked the receptionist where i could park, she says use the pub car park - which was also full, in the end I used the station car park which isnt cheap.
This hotel really is great if you use Watford junction station to get around, my advice is dont take the car.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for writing the review. It is much appreciated. As you mentioned, the car parking has only limited number of spaces. Once full, we use the Flag car park next to ours or the station car parking.
