Ideally situated if you are working or visiting Maidstone area. Peace and quiet in beautiful tranquil surroundings. Stayed in same ground floor room as my first visit in 2013. Wifi signal good but mobile signal varies depending on network. Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice. I would highly recommend this establishment.

We stayed three nights. On the positive side, the B&B was very clean and the garden was quite lovely. The breakfast was forgettable - a bar with several cereals, coffee, yoghurt, bread and toaster, but tea was self-serve in bags, jams were cheap ones in little plastic containers of the sort found in diners, and muffins were commercial and still in their wrappers. The unpleasant part was that each morning they asked if we would like cooked breakfast as well in a manner which suggested it would be a nuisance for them if we did. Since cooked breakfast came with the room, it bothered me to feel as if I were imposing if I wanted it.

The first room we were in was extremely tiny - 2 twin beds with just enough room to get around them. There wasn't room for a suitcase even standing up, much less opening one, so our suitcases had to be left in the bathtub. It was also on the upper floor and quite hot during warmer weather. We asked to be changed after our first night, and were put in a downstairs room which was slightly larger, but still without enough room to open a suitcase in the bedroom. The en suite was surprisingly large, so we used that as a dressing room.

The showers are quite complex to operate, requiring a page of written instructions, and even when you can get them to work, there was very little hot water. There wasn't enough for the two of us to both have a quick shower on any of the three days, and we heard the same from others at breakfast.

It would be okay for a quick overnight, but not recommended for a longer stay.

Room Tip: The upper floor can be quite hot in the summer. Some rooms are extremely small.

Thank you for your email. We feel a little annoyed by this couple. In the UK our rooms are not massive compared to big flash , modern hotels. It is in a converted Coachhouse in the Kent countryside and it is designed to be homely and space is at a premium. This couple from USA are obviously use to large rooms and big American breakfasts. We moved them to a ground floor room as they found it difficult to go up the stairs and a fan was offered to help cool them down. Its ridiculous to say it was a nuisance for us asking if they wanted a cooked breakfast especially when all our other guests were having cooked breakfasts at the same time perhaps they are use to people serving them in a certain style. Most guests after brief instructions using the shower know how to use it but this couple needed more help and should of asked for more instruction. The weather was great, unfortunately they said it was too hot for them! Cant win them all.

A lovely house with a beautiful garden. Room was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable. Owners very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts were fantastic. The place is a bit isolated so you will need to drive to go out for dinner etc especially as the local cabs are very expensive. Lovely place to stay and would recommend to all.

Room, staff and breakfast was excellent.
We asked the lady to put our wine in the fridge and she was generally very helpful.
Our only criticism is that to actually find a place to eat we had to cross an extremely busy dual highway to get to Detling. It took us 5 minutes to get across this road, queuing behind many others.

It was lovely to get back to this haven!

Room Tip: Our upstairs room was very hot after a sunny day. Maybe a room downstairs might be cooler!

This is an excellent and friendly B&B in beautiful surroundings. We stayed for one night as we had tickets to see Jools Holland at Maidstone studios. The owner gave us all of the information we needed to find where we were going and where we could eat near the studio beforehand. The B&B itself is lovely and clean and provides you with everything you need. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Detling Coach House.

Excellent B&B!!! I have stayed here for 5 days, I must say that the owners are so hospitable and they will assist with anything needed! The room I stayed in was very good for one person, free wifi at all times! The breakfast was very good, cooked to your needs.
I have only good words for this place as it is a home from home. The location is ideal as its quite and plenty of parking as well.
I have enjoyed my stay very much and I will be back whenever I am in Maidstone

The down side, four year advanced booking for the Kent shows. Slots are limited, so had to decamp on occasions to other places :-(
On business...nice to get back to something like home, I live in the countryside up north.
Breakfast...and hey hotels provide continental, not a fry up. The price of a full English makes your eyes water, this is cheaper (and better). I also got to borrow the dog and do some nice walks, since mine were 150 miles away. Emma and Pan ..Nice people will always help and they have significant experience. Went back with my wife to actually do a weekend of tourist stuff, since all I saw was the woods and an office, while there on business.
The only downer was the mobi signal inside, was zero (steel bracing?)....not a bad thing on reflection if you finished for the day :-)
Love It, would rebook in a heartbeat if I needed a Canterbury/Maidstone hub.
Kindest, Chris Thompson, Staffordshire.

Room Tip: Hmm, only been in two , one by the fire escape upstairs and one by the front door, if you like a sle...
