“Outstanding !!”

We stayed in Maidstone on our way to Chantilly for Easter and wanted a restaurant close to our hotel. I found Frederics by searching on Trip Advisor and although we would be eating French food whilst staying in France we thought we would try this restaurant.....and we are so pleased we did !! The food, service, ambience and friendliness and attention to detail by the owner, Ulric and our waiter Aurelien could not be faulted. We both had the starter of Foie Gras served with a small glass of Montballizac...absolutely perfect. My wife had Fillet steak for her main course and Ulric came out from the open kitchen to check exactly how she would like it cooked, and I had the fish and seafood dish. Both were absolutely perfect. We finished with a couple of espresso coffees and a calvados and armagnac which were complimentary, in the tradition of so many restaurants in France and Europe. The décor in the restaurant was very befitting of a French Café Bistro and the open kitchen adds to the charm of the place. We are so pleased we dined here and although we live a long way from the restaurant, we will definitely return on our frequent trips to France. Please don't miss going to this restaurant if you live nearby or are just passing through, because you will not be disappointed !!

“The Most Amazing Dining Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2013

What can I say other than wow. Ticked every box in the book and more. An independent family run business that cares about it's diners and what they are eating. Nothing is too much trouble for them and the service is first class and the quality of the food is better than that! I am a frequent traveller to the Dordogne and know my stuff when it comes to French food and wine of the region but have to say Frederic's is top of my list. I was only there last night but think I might go back there today for lunch. You have to go there and support this fabulous place.

“Great dining experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 12, 2013

We went for dinner with friends at Frederic's and what a great dining experience. The atmosphere was lovely, with just the right amount of tables in there - clearly the owner is driven by quality rather a quanitity, which is good find these days.

The food was lovely. We all had starter and a main course and I can 100% confirm we were so full when finished!! I had the brie and proscuito brioche for starter and a steak of main, which were all faultless.

This restaurant is truely something special and definately not run of the mill - would highly recommend a visit.

“Authentic experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2013

To say Maidstone has been lacking 'authentic experience' restaurants is somewhat of an understatement, so it was refreshing to find a genuine bistro that could deliver what it promised - good food, good service and reasonable prices! We were a party of eight last Friday night to celebrate a friend's birthday and although arriving unfashionably late the waiter was very attentive and accommodating. The menu didn't overload your senses with too much detail which, as a classic ditherer made choosing an enjoyable affair! I could comment on each course served but suffice to say everyone on our table enjoyed their meals. The cheese board was extraordinary and served with warm fresh bread - a lethal combination. The staff/owner chatted to us throughout the evening and his passion for good quality food is evident for all to see and experience. I really wish them continued success and hope in this age of 'plastic dining' that Maidstone encourages more independent traders - our taste buds need them!!

“Yummy starters”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2013

Unusually, our party of 4 enjoyed the starters more than the mains, even though the toast on all of the starters was burnt! The choices were imaginative and beautifully presented, with lots of flavour. The main meals were all tasty, but the men in our party would have liked larger portions. I would have liked to have been warned about how hot the plate was! But, we loved the atmosphere and the service was both friendly and efficient. Frederic knew we had to get to the theatre and personally checked we were going to be on time. A nice touch. Definitely will return - have a feeling this is going to be a favourite. And, we need to check out the pastries which looked great. Do go - a Kent cafe which would be approved by those who are more used to the high standards of parts of London,
