Everything was good. Very rich in the history of England. Beautiful grounds and most interesting wild life. Pity about the scaffolding but these things have to be done and its only temporay.

We had this really interesting day at Leeds castle and Canterbury cathedral. The scenery is so classic. We went on this trip with Golden Tours and our guide Tish Marchant made the day even more interesting with information about the castle and its history. Even if you only have a short time in England, you should not miss this trip.

Leeds Castle is one of the many historic places to visit in Kent; it's famous also for its gardens (flowers, trees), its black (and white) swans, etc... You can spend the day there, visiting, relaxing, it's a wonderful place to be (of course it's much better under the sun than in the rain). I would certainly return to the castle.

We went to Leeds Castle in March 2013, so it was still quite cold in Kent. This did not detract from the wonderful day we had. It cost £21.00 each for Adults and for children it's £13.50. This price gives you entry as often as you like, as many times as you like, for a whole year (special event days excluded). That's great if you live in UK however if you are a tourist and just want a one-of entry we thought it should be a bit cheaper. Having said that, if you make a full day of it, the money is well spent. Leeds Castle is beautiful, the audio guide is included in the price, and the history of the castle is fascinating. There's lots to look at, so take your time to look at everything carefully, before proceeding to the next audio station, soak it all in! The castle is warm and very well maintained. We took a picnic lunch and, after going around the castle, we sat and ate and watched the incredible birdlife, waterfalls, landscaped gardens and of course the peacocks. Very relaxing. We had a cup of tea in the Fairfax Restaurant which was the most divine tea we had in any restaurant in U.K. - real tea leaves in a real pot - fantastic. The decor in the restaurant is fabulous and had we known the food prices were pretty good, we probably would have eaten there, as the food looked absolutely delicious. There was a big variety and lots of price options to choose from. The plate portions looked very generous. As a couple it probably would have been reasonable value for us, if you have a big family maybe not. There is a Costa Coffee Shop at the entry to the Restaurant, but my advise is to check out the restaurant first, before deciding on the coffee shop, because the Restaurant is well worth patronising, especially as we were able to get a table and chairs next to the verandah so we could look out at the castle, beautiful grounds and the peacocks sitting on the railing. There is another cafe near the Maze but check opening times as its only open peak season. We then spent time walking through the gardens and the maze (of course we got lost and it took ages to get to the centre). Don't think you can get through the maze in a hurry, it takes sometime (unless you use a GPS!!). Its a lot of fun so make sure you leave time to go through the maze (possibly an hour if you are taking children!!). There is a playground for children near the maze. There is also a Falconry with shows but that wasn't open in March when we were there. There was also a big Adventure Playground with rope climbing which looked great for kids but I'm pretty sure you have to pay extra for that. There's plenty of other attractions, such as the little train and punting on the lake. If you want to get value for money its probably best to go in the English summer time, but of course you get more crowds then. When we went in March it was very quiet, which we preferred, but some of the attractions were not on. The grounds were still very beautiful in March, even though they were just coming out of their winter. Go to Leeds Castle prepared to spend the whole day, its well worth it.

Take a 25min trip in a punt, expertly "punted",around the moat. You get a real close up of parts of the castle unseen from land. Also your guide will give you all the history you need to know.Adults£5.Concessions £4. Worth every penney. This only started in April & should prove to be a hit with visitors.
