“Saturday evening meal for 2”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

Top quality food that didn't cost an arm and a leg - reasonably priced gourmet. Recommend advance booking.

“Reliably consistent”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

I've been using this place fairly regularly for some years, but never reviewed it. However, I've yet to be disappointed with the food and service - and my most recent visit, last Friday, was no exception.
It was fish Friday - and I chose one stuffed with spinach. It was pleasantly unusual, though a trencherman might have been unhappy with the portion size. A bright spot was the half price white wine deal for those who ordered any fish dish. Service was swift and cheerful and, if you happen to go there before heading up the hill to a show at The Stables, they'll get you in and out pronto. Best to book, because it can get very busy.

“Lovely Meal”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

We visited my brother just before Christmas and he booked the Wavendon Arms. From the moment we arrived I thought the service was very good with very pleasant staff who were very welcoming and accommodating.

The food quality was excellent although the prices required it to be (for a pub location).

It would recommend the Wavenon Arms for a nice meal for a couple or small group.

“Very nice New Year's Day lunch”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

Received a prompt e-mail reply to my enquiry as to whether they were open New Year's Day.
On-line booking very handy.
Plenty of parking. pleasant pub, modern with open fire. Welcomed and seated. Service friendly but not as efficient as it should have been because it was very empty when we arrived. complementary bread and oil came as the mains were being served.
2 roast dinners very nice, and lemon curd sponges with ice cream delicious.

“Great place and food, spoilt by unruly children.”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

My wife and I like the Wavendon Arms for its food and service but you do need to pick your time for visiting the restaurant. During the day and especially at weekends it can become overrun by unruly children. Or should that be parents! For it is they who fail to discipline their offspring. On New Year's day we were subjected to some very poor behaviour exhibited by the little boy on the table next to us (probably a 5 y.o.). He was incapable of sitting still or using a knife and fork, preferring to pull his fish fingers apart with his hands and, more importantly, was not corrected by his parents. He was also allowed to run around the restaurant and interfere with various items on display including me! All without parental advice or control.. I believe the Wavendon is part of the M&B brand and is at the upper end of their price range so it is often surprising at the family groups who seem to be able to afford the prices, especially during these harsh economic times. Still that said, the food is excellent, well presented and delivered promptly by the mainly antipodean staff. Drink prices are reasonable and compare favourably with similar establishments. The pub/restaurant is located on a fairly busy road but has a large car park attached which is guarded by a plethora of CCTV cameras.
