I'd not stayed at a Premier Inn previously so didn't really know what to expect. A friend had booked our rooms on-line some weeks before so got a really good deal for us, cost-wise. The room was spacious, the bed extremely roomy and comfortable, the bathroom facilities spotlessly clean. The room initially felt a bit cold but by using the control panel on the wall it soon heated up to the temperature which I required and maintained it the whole weekend.
The reception staff ( Roxanne and Olga ) were delightful! So friendly and helpful the whole weekend even though they seemed to be on duty for a very long time. I have mobility and sight problems and on arrival Roxanne immediately set about finding me a room which had easy access, for which I was very grateful. These two ladies are a credit to the Staff and employees of Premier Inns.
The food at the attached restaurant was of good quality and very reasonably priced. The Carvery ( two for £6.00 ) on Friday evening was outstanding in every respect. However, on Saturday evening there was very little food left, they had completely run out of turkey, carrots and roast potatoes yet were still taking orders for the Carvery. So there were some rather disappointed people who had ordered and paid for a Carvery meal. Perhaps the communication between the kitchen and bar staff should be improved so that the Staff taking food orders are aware of the situation if food is running low? We all felt that the drinks were very over-priced, though. All the waiting-on staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. We were able to reserve a large table in an area with a nice view with no problem.
The location is beautiful - very peaceful despite the proximity to traffic and the walk around the lake is lovely.
We were a group of eight people meeting up for a reunion. The only slight downside to the Inn was that there is no sitting area for a group, other than in the bar / restaurant which would not have been ideal after we had eaten our meal, so we all piled into one of the rooms to do our chatting!
We all agreed that we would love to stay there again but wish that Premier Inns would have a straightforward pricing system so that the advertised "£29" room really WAS a reality all the time! We paid this amount by taking advantage of a special on-line offer many weeks ago but when I checked on line the day before for the current price, it would have been around £137 for the same room if booked just a day or so before. The variable price structure is the only thing which would deter us from staying at a Premier Inn again, as the prices fluctuate so much.
For my group, though, this was a perfect choice of accommodation, location and with outstanding service.
