“Expensive for what it is”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

Visited here with my girlfriend on a Sunday. After all the glowing reviews we thought it would be quite an amazing place, but were quite disappointed. £13 each plus £3 for parking is expensive for what you get. The code breaking part seems to be the main bulk of this place, with lots of reading and more reading. Some of it is quite interesting.

The mansion hasn't been used to its full potential.. just a load of huge empty rooms!

No need for the ticket to be a season ticket as we won't be returning.

Enjoyed the visit although I feel it needs 2 days to get around it all as there is lots to see and read. Lots of work is being done and I think that in time, it will be better. Didn't find it flowed very well - if you don't know much about Bletchley and what happened there it would have been good to have an introduction section prior to starting the visit. We went on a guided tour and it was nice to have an enthusiastic gentleman explain bits and pieces en route. The ticket you purchase is valid for one year so we intend to re-visit before it runs out next year. Interesting visit and worth a look even if it was hard to fathom out at times!!!

“A place that everyone should visit”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

This is a place that everyone should visit, that is everyone over the age of 12 in my view. One can forget all about the fiction and the TV programmes associated with Bletchley Park , this is the real thing and well worth spending a full day (at least) to find out what exactly went on during War 2 at this extemely interesting place. We visited as part of a coach party (which have to be booked well in advance) with a booked guide who brought the place and its workings to life. Although it cannot be planned the weather was good and this makes the day even better as much of the visit is in the open, so be prepared for the British climate. As there is so much to see our group was provided with a booklet before arrival which provided the background to the establishment - this is essential so that one can see as much as possible in the time allowed. The reason for not gaining a five star rating is simply that the booking organisation for groups leaves a lot to be desired. I understand that visitor numbers are increasing each year and the advance booking service needs to be completely overhauled and brought up to the standards experienced at other venues. In spite of this many of our passengers said they would like to return for a second visit.

“What did you do in the war mummy ?”
Reviewed April 20, 2013

Firstly let me say that this is not for children under 16, unless they are budding Einsteins. My wife (non-mathematician) and I were visiting for the first time and had already decided that the visit needed to be 2 days. So glad we did this; first day just strolling around finding ones bearings , then second day 'doing' the official tour with a guide who was a fount of knowledge, finally going around the site again to view the blocks, huts and main house from a truer/clearer perspective and insight. All 9000 people who worked there should be decorated; Turing was a gifted mathematician and gave so much to them and to the engineers who then created computers.
More visits are planned to see the refurbished huts as the are completed.
Very much enjoyed the Soup/Bread wartime lunch in Hut 4.
