Recommended length of visit: 1-2 hours
Owner description: Big Rock Climbing Centre is an exciting all weather venue, with fun activities suitable for the whole family. It's great fun for kids and the perfect antidote to boring gym regimes for adults! Humans have been climbing trees to escape from wolves and other scary stuff for thousands of years so don't let modern life supress your natural instinct to climb. Conquer our high roped walls for an unbeatable sense of achievement, experience the freedom of climbing without using a rope in our low level bouldering area or try something that's entirely off-the-wall: CrazyClimb featuring a series of wacky climbing challenges! Have fun and get fit! The aim is to ascend a climb using only the designated coloured holds - think of it as join the dots but much more interesting! Choosing the correct sequence of coloured holds and reaching the top provides an unbeatable feeling and a really fun workout. No previous experience is required and anyone can have a go. Spectators are free to relax in the seating area overlooking the climbing walls and can enjoy a selection of drinks, snacks and meals from the Big Rock cafe. Free WiFi is even available!

“Great Bouldering”
Reviewed July 12, 2012

Went for the bouldering on a weekday afternoon and there was only a few people in there which was great. Has a large bouldering area. Routes are colour coded so its easy to find routes of certain levels. Problems seem well thought out as well, with a huge variety of different holds. Is a bit pricey compared to other venues but it is well relaxed in there with nice sofas for chilling on. The top roping areas look great as well and there were a few things for small children to climb as well. A great session and a great venue. Will go again.

Reviewed June 30, 2012

Visited Big Rock last November for a taster session was hooked! so signed up for the beginers course helpful welcoming staff who work hard to encourage people to get together by organising social evenings to get folks climbing together.
Brilliant family location they accomadate all ages!! bouldering area is a fab challenge and the 2 heights of climbing walls cater for all levels of climbers, don't worry if your climbing solo they have auto belays!!
Cafe is excellent good food and drinks at reasonable rates, non climbers welcome to sit on sofas and watch climbers!

Just love this place - if its raining outside - climb inside!!

“Now a monthly member - simply brilliant”
Reviewed June 6, 2012

After climbing at my (more local) Nottingham and Derby walls, it is clear that Big Rock is a well-funded new facility. The easy colour-coding for the bouldering is brilliant and they keep all of the walls clean and change routes regularly. The staff are brilliant and the food at the cafe is reasonably priced and good quality.
I was so impressed that I now pay £44/month and go whenever I like after work with my wife and work colleagues. The centre does get busy at time, but justifiably!

“A high climber in the activity list”
Reviewed June 4, 2012

Visited with my two children and Girlfriend. Whilst quite pricey at £15 per person for a 1 1/2 hour taster session it was well worth the money. We all had great fun and all achieved different climbs. Great instruction, plenty of time on the wall, cheap soft drinks, lots of laughs. Admitedly i was not much cop but enjoyed it nonetheless.! Very clean and lots of parking.
