“2nd excellent visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2014

Have just stayed here for the second time in the last month. Excellent value for money as it includes a really good basic breakfast in the price. In our view far better value than the 2 local Premier Inns - a brand that we would normally use as our first choice. Very good quality reception team. Good extensive public area with TVs. Free morning paper. Ice machines. We shall definitely be using the hotel again.

Very pleasent hotel. The breakfast is basic but very good and it is lovely to have a budget hotel with a good public space. We had booked a fanily room and for a family it is not as big as soem of the rival hotels in the price bracket. Now for my major gripe. We arrived late in the evening with two very tired children with an outside tempreture at freezing if not below and when we got into our room it was almost as cold. I put the heating on and set about setelling our children. After they had gone off to sleep i noticed that the heating was not on even though I had put it on, I tried to turn on again but this time watched it and noticed that after a couple of seconds it went off again. I tried this a few more times but every time it went off. As we had only just got the children off to sleep I didn't want to have hotel staff coming in a waking them so I left it. On checking out I complained aboput this at reception and was told 'oh yes we switch off the heating in the rooms you should have asked for it to be switched on' (really? why? on a freezing cold night do you not thing it may have been wise to switch them on in rooms that are going to be occupied?) Now there is no sign in the room to say it needs to be switched on and athough I have complained to Holiday Inn about this experience my complaint has not really been dealt with other than an email saying they were sorry about my experience.

Room Tip: Be careful about family rooms. And if its cold ask for the heating to be switched on as you wont be...

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback regarding your stay with us. We appreciate they take time to do and we take all comments on board and value the chance to make improvements where possible. Any feedback is welcome good or bad, as it assists us in our never-ending task to better ourselves and improve things for our guests.

With regards to the heating, I would like to apologise for this not being switched on before your arrival. We do not normally switch off the heating, however the previous occupant requested that the heating system be deactivated throughout the night. Even though it is winter this is a common request and unfortunately it appears that it was not reactivated before your arrival. I know the team will be disappointed with themselves for letting you down.

We hope that this has not detoured you from hopefully staying with us or other Express's again at some point in the future.

Kind regards

John

The hotel is ok. It's location on the outskirts is easy to find and convenient. It was clean and the staff were friendly. Breakfast is free and help-yourself. It was acceptable but nothing special. Evening meals are mostly deep fried. The Harvester opposite was not much better.

We booked this hotel as it was convenient to the venue of a party we were attending. We did not know what to expect as the cost for the night was very cheap, but we were pleasantly surprised. There was plenty of car parking and the overall look of the hotel and the entrance was very good. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was large, clean and we were extremely pleased. Opposite was a Harvester Restaurant if you wanted a meal but we were happy to have a drink and a snack at the bar in the Hotel. The bar is open 24 hours which was nice if you wanted a nightcap after a night out.
The breakfast which is included in the price was a continental breakfast with hot and cold food and completely satisfactory and tasty.
This hotel is very convenient for the M1 and the centre of Milton Keynes.

We recently stayed here for one night. Booked early and got a great price. Friendly and helpful staff on arrival and during the stay. We extended our checkout time by two hours at no extra charge. About five minutes from town by car. Would stay here again.

We have stayed here before and didn't really rate it very highly. Pleasantly surprised this time.

Room was clean and fresh. Breakfast was more organised than at our last visit (others in the chain do it better). Free wifi a bonus but too slow to watch anything on catch up).

Located next to a Harvester but on the outskirts of Milton Keynes. Taxi costs £6 to the football ground, town centre or the station in a taxi. Very handy for M1 though.

Credit were its due - we chose this hotel solely on price because we had a busy few days and were pleasantly surprised that it was better than on our previous visit.

Dear Guest

I was really pleased to see that you decided to come back and stay with us again and we have succeeded your expectations with the improvements we have made to our complimentary breakfast and the offer now of free Wi Fi throughout the hotel.

We have been working very hard on improving the breakfast setup to ensure that the buffet area runs more smoothly and more efficiently; even during those extremely busy periods, such as Sunday mornings.

With regards to the Wi Fi, though it is true the free connection speed is not suitable for high speed video streaming...etc. There are options available for our guests to purchase higher speed connections for a very low surcharge, either though the login portal or via Reception.

Thank you once again for your feedback and we hope to see you again soon.

Kind regards

John

I stayed here for a night in November and was quite impressed.
What impressed me most was the cleanliness of the hotel. The room was spacious and very well maintained too. The bed was comfy and the room had everything that I required.
I have read a few groans on here about the breakfast and it wasn't great, but it was ok. I would stay here again as it's convenient and is suitably priced. Some of the hotels in central Milton Keynes are way overpriced and this is a perfectly good compromise.
